That makes a lot of sense.

I'm surprised Spurs signed him, he is good on the ball with both feet and is a big lad so is good in the air but he has no pace, Sporting had him working with a specialist sprint coach to try to improve this but gains in pace through coaching are marginal, you either have pace or you don't. Pochettino likes to play a high line so pace is important, that's why he wants rid of Dawson, like I said i'm surprised Spurs have gone for him.
 
Really rated the lad, was a much better defender than most he faced at U18 level at Finch Farm.

Spurs have probably met his release clause, so I'm not surprised at the fee, I suspect he always wanted to come back to England so wouldn't want to be priced out of a move with a high release clause.
