So Spurs were going to let Dawson go to QPR last summer but he rejected the move, captained the side and was their most regular defender. He might now be off to Hull.

Vertonghen could be going to Barca.

That would leave them with Kaboul, Chiriches and a 20 year old who has never played a competitive game in English league football as their central defensive options. Hmm.

I haven't seen the lad play but I do like the idea of a 6ft 2 defender schooled at one of the biggest clubs in Portugal. Maybe Pochettino is trying to put together a young side with plenty of sell-on value? If Davies and Dier realise their potential they will be worth a lot more than they cost. Lamela is only 22. As is Eriksen. Bentalab is 19. Walker, Holtby, Chadli, Townsend, Sandro, Capoue and Chiriches are all 25 or under. Youth could definitely be the way to go for Tottenham.

got bags of potential this lad, would of been a perfect future partner for stones, would of been worth a punt for 4 million but a center back isnt a priority.

He's barely played for Sporting Lisbon and when he has it has been in midfield.

but hes a center back, most 19 year olds cant play center back at a high level its a position that players improve with experience, they cant all be john stones, and as i said hes got plenty of potential, he played center back here and for england u21s.

hes played 26 league games in 2 seasons which for a young player isnt to bad, probably as many as most kids of his age play at the start of there careers

As ive said before though, if hes any good why are sporting loaning him to us and then selling him for a small fee compared to others?

they loaned him to us to develop his game in england, hes a youth international and it made sense to let him come here and develop his game, he wasnt allowed to feature in our first team squads, and as said hes got plenty of potential to develop, 4 million is cheap stones cost us less and hes not bad is he

Whilst I would have liked to see him come to us at that price, I can understand why RM hasn't done for him. After signing Besic, who is a capable CB, we don't really need another player in that position. And let's face it, Spurs are unlikely to use him correctly / at all, unless they sell one or both of Vertonghen and Dawson... so we might be in a position to pick him up when he's 22 and bored of sitting on the bench.

I'm surprised Spurs signed him, he is good on the ball with both feet and is a big lad so is good in the air but he has no pace, Sporting had him working with a specialist sprint coach to try to improve this but gains in pace through coaching are marginal, you either have pace or you don't. Pochettino likes to play a high line so pace is important, that's why he wants rid of Dawson, like I said i'm surprised Spurs have gone for him.

Its a bit like us getting in a portuguese kid and then loaning him back to portugal. He wont develop the skills for the prem but will develop for the portugese game --odd.

Sporting sell players for big money. They are selling for 4mil which makes no sense at all.

Barnsley are not comparable in the slightest as for them 3mil is like 15mil for sporting, its all relative.
