Not privy to anything from inside Finch Farm or anything, but you'd have to believe we wanted a look at him for a possible move.

His registration at the time was partly owned by an Irish firm that 'invests' in players in Turkey and Portugal; they may have wanted a tidy profit for their share of his registration before we could sign him so that may have been a hindrance. Believe Sporting now own 100% of his registration though.

Led to believe the player himself fancied going back to Lisbon, perhaps thought he could make first team football in fewer steps there and he's made the best choice for himself as it turns out.

Big strong lad, comfortable with the ball at his feet and doesn't go around chopping people, reminded me a bit of Gerard Pique when he was at United, just needed toughening up a bit for British football but the class was obvious.

Indeed SL have one of the best youth set-ups in world football probably

Any whispers on him? How has he been doing for the u21s?

Seems like a dream partnership with stones with Jagielka helping them develop-- if we had the chance. I wonder how much he would cost?

Very good player. This season his progress was hampered by an early injury which made him lose a spot for a brazilian center back. Had some shaky performances but got better and better throughout the season whenever he was called to perform.

Last season played a few matches as a defensive midfielder but he clearly is a center back and a very good one. His technique allows him to make runs from deep until the opponents box. This is something very rare to watch in a center back.
