Another player that needs punting.

Sick note Gibbo can take his two best mates alcaraz and pienaar for a long walk south.

Gibson points per appearance = 1.76

McCarthy points per appearance = 1.84
Barry points per appearance = 1.72
Besic points per appearance = 1.09

We weren't such a bad side with Gibbo partnered with Neville/Osman, Fellaini AM and Jelavic/Anichebe. Now with so many 'upgrades' it's not looking all roses anymore. It's a shame Gibbo's had his injuries. Martinez doesn't exactly give detailed updates or if there have been any setbacks. We still never heard exactly when Gibson picked up this 'minor knock'. Didn't look injured coming off against Scotland. Gibbo posted over 2 weeks ago that his new boots felt good and Martinez confirmed on Thursday that he's training with the first team. Someone said they saw him heading for the dressing room on SSN last Monday ahead of the QPR game. Maybe, like Oviedo he's just not being fancied for the 18 right now.

Unless there was a bust up behind the scenes surely if fit he would have got a runout against Krasnodar, much better than an out of position Oviedo or Pienaar in central midfield.

Presume there is still a niggling injury as he didn't even make the bench, tbf ACLs can take a long time to recover from.

I'm not saying there was a bustup or anything like that. He's been 50/50 for the last two games. Krasnodar was probably a bit early. Even if he's nearing a return, like Oviedo it's possible that he has to bide his time and won't be rushed back in. We have 26 first teamers. 8 don't even make the squad every game.

Can't help but disagree with this. When he's played, Gibbo's been great, as evidenced by our points per match with him in the lineup. Still, he hasn't played much, and we have other options at his position. If selling him for whatever amount makes it easier to bring in a player at a position of need, the move should be made.

Can't believe he still has a thread.

Yes he's been injured, but two weeks 'rehab' in the sunshine doesn't mean shovelling a load of Guinness down your neck most nights and falling over.

He had a spell about 3 seasons back when he was undroppable and I was gutted when the (inevitable) injury came. But that's just it, an injury is *always* just around the corner.

If he was a racehorse he wouldn't be shot, but he would be donated to a riding stables for little kids to practice on.
