I would like to see him work on his forward passing, he's got an amazing range so its in his locker. He could become a complete midfielder if he could learn to consistently play those Gibbo-esque defense cutting passes.

He's fantastic and he has that playmaking ability. For me Oveido is more like Coleman, more of an aggressive box-to-box player and less a creative force. We need more creativity in this side so my vote goes to Garbutt if it comes down to it.

Agree with all of this. What really gets me is that all this deliberately lethargic and overly cautious passing is the wrong decision most of the time. The prime exampled being that bizarre free kick which was taken short but only ended up going towards our goal, there was absolutely no reason...

I think our lack of creativity is a bigger problem than having 3 quality LBs. Putting Baines in the centre may help our creativity problems first and then secondly give more opportunities for Oviedo and Garbutt. Baines is a superb player, he excels in just about every category so logic would...

Garbutt. Kone was great and Pienaar after them.

I'd say right now we have a decent overall squad. When the team is fit we have players who can make an impact off the bench, right now we really need to focus on improving the starting 11. We need a young Pienaar and/or a starting winger.

I actually really want to see what he can do in the centre. With Garbutt impressing, McCarthy's injury, Barry off form, and the lack of creativity going forward. Baines is our most creative maybe we should try starting him in a position more suited to that strength.

Clearly on a different level to the other u21s. Has all the attributes of Baines and looks to be potentially a top club's starting LB in the future.
