I always judge keepers on whether they do the basics right. Howard is a great shot stopper but so are most top class keepers or they wouldn't be playing at that level, what puts a an exceptional keeper up there above all the others for me are the ones that help their defenders out consistently, commanding their area, coming off the line when they should, staying on the line when they should, being bigger and stronger than the oppositions attacking players, collecting crosses on a regular basis. I've been watching Howard closely now for a number of seasons and unfortunately he does non of the basics very well consistently. He has cost us more points than he's saved us just through basic errors so it's time to look for someone new.
