I bet only the Americans know what one of these is.

In short it's microsoft and the US answer to the iPod.

I'm on my 2nd 80gb one of these and they beat the ipod hands down in EVERY way.

Now they have released a new version of the software :

All I can say is WOOOOOOOOOOW.

It's fan-fapping-amazintastic.

You DONT need a zune to use the software in windows. You use it like iTunes (except it kicks the arse of iTunes!) or windows media player.

I won't go on about how awesome this bit of software is, but if you are even a bit curious or like me have over 1000 mp3 albums then this bit of software is very worth your time to install.

Pretty good sales for an average product. There is a reason why Zune doesn't outsell the iPod, and that's because Apple make better products than Microsoft. All Microsoft do, and all they have ever done is copy what Apple do.

There is no comparison. Apple are successful because they hit the right notes, Microsoft are well known for developing poor quality products that are bugged.

That wouldn't be me. I have the unique ability of picking the best equipment for the money. PC's are a given. No need to own a Mac if you are a smart user. Windows is no where near as bad as people make it out to be. The iPod? Many, many better MP3 players on the market and iTunes isn't all that and a kettle of fish.

What I really don't agree with is when people are 'brand-whores' like yourself. It doesn't just limit itself to that. Sony for example, they make some superb TV's, but they come at a premium over others. Other brands make TV's just as good. I have a Westinghouse and it stands up to the best 42" TV's on the market. You go into the electronics shop for a side-by-side and amazingly the Brand name TV's pictures look so much better (ever wonder why?) A TV's strength lay in the settings and the expensive ones are calibrated on the wall and the cheap ones aren't, so they look like ass. I go out with a copy of Cars on DVD and run the THX optimizer on it and the salesman couldn't see a difference.

WHY pay more? Why pay more for a PC masquerading as a Mac? Why pay more for an decent MP3 player? Why pay more for a brand name TV?

Why? So you can flash around on your Macbook listening to your iPod while texting from your iPhone?

But on topic, the SanDisk Sansa MP3 players look great, are cheap as hell and have great interfaces. Creative's players are top notch, Sony do a couple of good ones.

Anyway, I could go on more but I have crabby kids who need to go to bed.

I just thought of a good analogy. The Iranians had names for the western world. The USA (and sometimes the UK) was know as the Great Satan and the USSR the Lesser Satan. In our case Microsoft would be the Great Satan and Apple the Lesser Satan.

They ARE just as bad as each other.
