i rekon we should sign the fattest man in the world / widest

just for marking reasons.. mark about 10 men at once, wudnt cost much

GET HIM SIGNED. cba finding a pic would of looked better

.

we could have this fat man covering lcb, rcb. some of the right back [ no need to sign a right back
keep his belly there, push bainsey up on the left, gibson just infront smashing balls up
and have about 5 people upfront. tactical genuis i am lads

Right.. Its the last min at a dodgy away ( Oldham ).. They have a corner..
Treat it like a free kick.
Make a bit of a wall in front of the taker.
Goalie stands on the pen spot..
If it gets over the wall. he catches it.

Sweet.

we could sign horsemeat like.

sounds like ur names the sort of the man im talkin about

is right lad x

[was meant to quote. bit slow on these posts today

Plenty of teams use it to success. Its just that the team has to be gelled together and everyone needs to know their assignments in order for it to work.

I think the stats show zonal works better but like any system it only works if the players are switched on and attack the ball.

The reason you always hear motd and the like go on about man marking is that guys like hansen are so old fashioned that they dont know any different and revert to blaming the 'new' methods. Most teams use a combination of zonal near the 6yd box and a couple man marking I think.

If you want to see a comparison, Villa only man mark and game after game when they concede, Lambert throws his hands up and says that its a simple system and players just have to go after their man. The goals keep coming though.

FIFA stuff that mate. Well played.

Probably would actually work, don't get why the GK in real life doesn't stand on the pen spot. If he runs into someone, its a freekick.

Anyone explain when and why the apparent zonal marking on set-pieces kicked in at Everton, or give a good account of the technicalities of it (maybe the guy who does the executioners blog frequents here and he can help)?

Ive been going for almsot 30 years and if I'm being totally honest, despite being a football officiando, it simply hadnt occured to me that we (mal)practised it this season at least.....I picked up on it by chance reading something the mightily consistent Sylvain Distin wrote. Now, to cover my blushes of ignorance, if you can assist....fire away.

Thanks in advance

Good post mate! Am also interested to know.

FYI it is Bong. I too would like to know if he posts on here. Very informative he is!

Zonal marking is just a codecil to actual marking of the man.

Oi! you; Fellaini, you're marking Holt for corners and freekicks, don't be a blert and take it too literal and follow him if he goes and stands on the edge of the centrecircle.

All of you, don't forget, ATTACK THE 'KIN BALL

Marking space, yeah right, when as the last time 'space' scored a goal

Howard stands on the pen spot..
If it gets over the wall. Howard flaps at it.

Sweet.
As you say....simple

LOL! Classic!

I think we should practice zonal scoring by playing our striker inside that penalty box thing more often instead of on the wing.

Shut up mate, hes shocking.
I know its all to do with confidence and because he keeps running the channels but what excuse does he have for missing vs Southampton (Missed the ball) and Oldham (Spazzy legs)
