80 million, hmm same as Maguire, they did sell their rb for 50 million.

We have bid 65 mill so can we up this by 15 mil, so if we sell james for 4 million

Why don't we just buy Sangare and Sarr? Aren't they two decent players a lot cheaper than what we are going for and for double joy aren't Palace and Watford both interested.

We could kill 400 birds with the 29 stones

It depends how much money we actually have to spend. If we have the cash, Zaha is guaranteed premier league quality. It’s not my money, I just want the best team possible and Zaha 100% improves our first 11

I can't see this happening and if £70m + 2 players is a true bid, they have done all they can to get him. It's an eye watering amount of money for a very good, but not spectacular player in my opinion. I think they'll walk away now. The little time left can be better spent pursuing any other viable targets.

On a wider level, the ultimate use (and origin) of this supposed hefty cash reserve that we now have waiting to be spent will be very interesting. Brands doesn't like doing business in January and I tend to agree on the whole.

Maybe.

But move on to who at this point? The market is now enormously inflated for all players because there's only 30 odd hours to go and because of the maguire deal.

It sometimes is better to overpay and improve than walk away and stagnate. I dunno what way we might go.

If we pay £80m now it sets an awful precedent for what other clubs can get away with wanting from Everton.

We've made great strides towards competency in the market with Brands with the moves for Kean and Gomes - I don't want to go back to square one by dramatically overpaying for Zaha.

Move on, far too much at this point.

Sky are conveniently ignoring that they're also the ones claiming we've valued McCarthy at £8.5m and he's currently set to join (as per their reports) Palace. So that's already hitting the £80m valuation that Palace are supposedly asking for.

My theory is it's all down to the structure of the payments. It's how much we're willing to pay up front - and that's what this is from Palace. Pure posturing.

I'm not saying it'll get done. If we start seeing links to other players then I guess we've moved on. But we've left it late (and I'm not saying that was the right thing to do) to still be going at this.

If someone said150-60 mil to add Zaha, Kean and Gomes to the first 11 before the start of the window whilst clearing out a good chunk of our deadwood I’d have been delighted

It's a tricky one but I'd lean the other way. If we have Walcott and Bernard playing regularly then I don't see where the goals are going to come from.

If we another good option then move on by all means but they won't come cheap at this stage either.

I agree, we would be a laughing stock. He is worth half that but we have been a bit amateur it feels with this one.

Injury to Richarlison would leave us seeverly lacking goals.

We can’t put too much pressure on Kean either.

Someone who will contribute to goals is needed.

The fee is about right to be honest, liverpool and man u have paid around 75 million for defenders. Zaha is a quality player who the fans will love but he worth it IF we can afford it.
