The later it gets, the better deal we will get both in terms of total price and Palace having no option but to take some of our players because they won't have time to sign players from other clubs.

If it gets done it will no doubt be for more than 65m but less than 80m. These things generally tend to meet in the middle somewhere.

You have to question why palace would have told him he could leave. Seems a very strange one when he just signed a new contract.
I think they signed him to it by telling him he could leave this season. Then for whatever reason (mainly Arsenal signing Pepe) no one else has really come in for him. Palace haven’t signed a replacement either despite having a year to do so.

Still not sure on this one. Just can’t get Bolasie out my head. Would rather we had gone for Malcolm or Under but of Brands backs it then we trust in him.
The comparisons to Bolasie are stupid, Zaha is a much better player. Bolasie's career was over within months of joining with that ACL injury. Unless the same happens to Zaha, it doesn't make sense to compare the two.

Back in 2002 we had Ginola, Gascoigne, Radzinki and Blomqvist.17 years later we could have Zaha, Siggy, Kean and Richarlison. This could be a team that that everyone fears playing.

If the latest position is true (who knows?)
My take, from a Palace perspective, is this;
1. Wilf wants to go.
2. He and his advisors have been told he can go for £80m
3. No one has offered £80m. It could reasonably be argued that £65m plus Tosun and McCarthy is equal to or greater than £80m but we would (a) sooner have the cash or (b) keep Wilf.
4. Paying £80m cash now is too late. Plus everyone will know we have £80m (less 25% to Man. U.)
5. I doubt whether Wilf will kick off about it. He will want to keep the impression of a good pro (which he is) and either in January, depending on our start, or at the end of the season, he will be off. Palace will sell at some point. I think his peak value won't last too much longer.
6.The £80m was the price at which Palace hoped no one would pay.

Still, two days left. Anything could happen.
Wilf; stop playing with my head ffs.

If that is the case then clearly they want them plus a lot more cash. But in leaving it so late are they holding on to Zaha because they will be unable to replace him?

All posturing from Palace this to make it look like they've held out for the best deal possible.

The statement a few weeks ago was to allow Palace to quietly go about sourcing a replacement without getting stung like Leicester are.
