We're biffing about looking for suitable alternatives. If we get something agreed then I think Everton will have been told the deal is £Xm payable in total by Y. Take it or leave it. Would be surprised if there are any Everton players involved in any deal. Just cash and probably mostly up front.

Could missing out on Chalov cause you to go for Tosun? Has Wilf turned up for training?

The whole Zaha thing is a mess, even if he ends up staying, its nothing more than a complete shambles. If he stays his head has gone and the slighest mistake he does on the pitch will be magnified ten fold and criticized by your mob.

If deal was off, request was rejected, and player is staying, then you'd expect palace to go public with that.

Until we hear it's off it could be on, is the way I see it. But equally we'll need to hear of progress in the next few 4 or 5 hours if any deal is gonna happen.

I think we may be being a bit more duplicitous than that. A sort of; "Well Wilf, your transfer request hasn't changed anything, we said you can go if a suitable bid came in and that's still the case. We're just trying to line up some adequate replacements. It's not easy."
Running down the clock and then trying to ease Wilf back on side with an arrangement that suits all parties in Jan / June 2020.
