I mean that's his one redeeming virtue in a blue shirt, holds the record for aerial battles won, however I agree, awful from an attacking perspective in the air and generally awful.

Yeh he's 6'5" I'd imagine he could beat a few defenders to the ball but so far when trying to score one, Jesus wept, he shuts his eyes every time.

Scary bad. I reserved judgement for a while through wincing eyes and gritted teeth but the statistics speak for themselves. We're toothless playing with him and/or Beto. So bad. Time for some reality to bite.

The reason people have written Barry off ( well me), is he doesnt actually move like an athlete, nevermind a footballer...
Surely if assessing a footballers ability & potential was that simple, people paid a lot of money to make transfer decisions would have spotted it just by watching him in another league. Or maybe you have a ‘gift’ and should be offering free advice to the recruitment panel?

Are you saying our scouts are infallible? Seriously?

No I’m just saying it’s a lot more complex than “he doesn’t move like an athlete”. I also think that deciding that a player who scored 11 goals for a decent La Liga team at 21 can’t play football must be some what wide of the mark. He’s not been good enough so far but I think it’s waaaay too early to write him off entirely. I am not saying we don’t need another striker whilst we find out if he can come good though.

The main thing this fella has got going for him is that he isn’t Beto, he looks like a leader amongst the national team and can take a penalty, generating more power in his shot than an asthmatic kitten could like our two “forwards”. If he can play with his back to goal, judge where the ball is going and has decent movement then he’s an upgrade on what we have.

Kieffer Moore would probably be an upgrade on what we have, at least he knows the area and how cold it is.

glad that others have noticed how bad Barry is in the air. That Utd game and stat was so misleading. The poor Utd team were barely challenging them standing headers from goal kicks, probably a decision made by Amorim. Why lose the defensive shape For those type of non theeatening duels

If it’s gradual squad improvement that’s a good thing. If this guy can start more games and push Barry then it’s a better option than Beto, so we’re stronger overall. Would be interesting to see if we could get a decent fee for Beto.
He’ll push Barry… all the way to the bench!
