Your Most Disappointing Gig

Faithless, without a doubt. MEN Arena, dreadful choice of venue given they'd massively undersold tickets and had to curtain off the upper section. Even the floor was half-empty. Maxi Jazz hollering several times 'Come On Manchester' to no avail, as no-one seemed in the slightest bit interested.

Would've happily left after 20 mins if it wasn't for my mate who was a massive fan and was doing his best to enjoy it, even though I could tell he knew it was rubbish too.

If they'd put it on at the Apollo it probably would've been ace.

I saw Wu Tang Clan years ago at Hammersmith Apollo and they were a massive let down. I was a big fan but a couple of the main guys weren't there and they seemed to only do a few minutes of each song rather than the whole lot.

De La Soul last year were rubbish too. They just did their own versions of the songs rather than the classics and didn't have much of a rapport with the crowd.

Wilco 2009. Had backstage passes. Got the Flu and had to miss. $$$$ down the drain, but not their fault.
Sonic Youth 2001. Memphis in May. The band wasn't into it from the beginning, but the heckling obviously put them further off. They played a handful of songs and then bailed.

Prodigy at Glastonbury in '97. Was pathetically quiet and they got the arse with the crowd shouting "Turn it up" and stormed off for half an hour before coming back in a foul temper and were still quiet. [Poor language removed] off to watch Massive Attack, who were mint.

Primal Scream at Reading in '94. They were going through their Stones tribute act phase and butchered most of their best stuff. Got bored and spent their set wandering around the arena getting arseholed and setting fire to things.
I was at that and it was a massive disappointment. Paticularly as their Glasto 95 show was the best gig I've ever been to

Any gig at the MEN for me, terrible venue, afwul sound in that place. Seen Counting Crows and Plant and Page there. The Verve come back gig at the Empress Ballroom, another [Poor language removed] venue.

The Moonstone ! lol, in St.Johns precinct, Clayton square side. They used to put bands on in The Sportsman as well ( that was the other side it became Quinns in the 80's).Most disappointing gig , The Pierces at the uni. walked out after 4 songs.
used to like the moonstone, wonderd in there one early punk days the Adverts had had there gear stolen outside Erics, so me and my mate wanderd about till we heard the music in there, the looks we got off the crowd as we walked in like we were from another planet, but once the novelty had worn of they were brillant the group came over to talk to us, outside of the papers it was still rare to see a punk those days, the group were on the old grey test a few days later.
Quinns , didnt like that place at all,
worst concert for me was the Clash at Erics, i went the second night and was really looking forward to it they were my favorite group at the time , everbody was saying how good they were the night before and at the junior Erics gig earlier that day, Joe Strummer was just going throught the motions really half arsed, i stopped being a punk the week after, bit like him it had run out of steam.
Years later went to see the tribute act radio city clash at the Metro, they were actully miles better than the real thing.
