Your Most Disappointing Gig

It's a great book, written about 10 years ago. Obvs, there is history between Wall and the band, get in the ring and all that. I think it is a very fair and sympathetic book. Axl's youthful love of the music of Queen, Freddie Mercury in particular, and Elton John came as a surprise to me!

Probably guns n roses leeds 2010. Would've been class if they'd turned up on time, but we had a long drive and a boat to catch so when they came on 90 minutes late ish, we caught 3 songs then had to leave. Heard the intro riff to sweet child o mine when I was in the carpark, get to fuk axl.

Badly Drawn Boy at The Showbox in Seattle in 2002.

The music was good, but he was a massive drunken bellend. Taunting folks in the crowd between songs...throwing stuff. It was so incredibly bizzare. Beligerent...hardly could complete a sentence. Don't have a clue how he could even play the songs he was so drunk. But once he got playing, the music was very good.

Whitesnake.

David Coverdale had to rearrange his man parts on stage and inform everyone watching. Several times.

Then talked about Rob Beach's "magnificent ass".

Then there was a drum solo. For 5 min. While fun at first, it got old quick.

Then there was a solo for everything, even the lights.

I went to get beer. About 3 times. FFS.

Oh and Don Broco. Cuz they're annoying and also all look like absolute grade-A chav tw@s.

Guns and Roses - Use Your Illusion Tour .

Maine Road June 1992. The first gig was cancelled the week before due to the fact that Axel Rose was exhausted. Played again a week later in baking sunshine, the crowd was up for it, with excellent support sets from Soundgarden and Faith No More. It all went horribly wrong after that. They came on two hours late, with no real excuse. The crowd turned on them and Rose had a hissy fit due to heckling and stuff getting thrown at him. He / they went through the motions and stormed off. Utter garbage .
I saw GNR live back in 2012 and they were alright. Nothing more, nothing less. Axl was a bellend for a bit, but nothing special. He did stop the music for 20 seconds to tell people to "stop pushing each other"... at the front of the stage of a rock concert shortly after Welcome to the Jungle ffs.

Metallica have "met" GNR a few times, once was when Hetfield burned his arm and Axl Rose tried to upstage him by throwing a hissy fit, cuz he has to be the star.

Also this...

Prodigy at Glastonbury in '97. Was pathetically quiet and they got the arse with the crowd shouting "Turn it up" and stormed off for half an hour before coming back in a foul temper and were still quiet. [Poor language removed] off to watch Massive Attack, who were mint.

Primal Scream at Reading in '94. They were going through their Stones tribute act phase and butchered most of their best stuff. Got bored and spent their set wandering around the arena getting arseholed and setting fire to things.
