Your best Everton XI of the century

He was a class player for a long time at united. He played for us for a bit as a kid and came back when he was way past his best. Hardly deserving of being in our best 11 over the likes of Lukaku and Cahill.

But at his best before he left (obviously he was inconsistent) he was incredible. One of, if not THE best 16/17 year old player on the planet. He just needed better players around him.

Rooney in 2004 on a good day was a better player than Cahill ever was (and I love Tim).

Pickford

Coleman
Stones
Jagielka
Baines

Arteta
Cahill Fellaini

Rooney
Ferguson
Lukaku

That would nearly win the league if all here at the same time

My only issue with Mirrallas was his consistency. However taking out rat face that time was epic.
Yeah. I struggled with that right sided forward. Obvs early 2000s the old "442" was still very much in vogue. Can't even really remember who we played there under Smith or early Moyes. Arteta did for a while but was unorthodox so Mirallas just seemed the "best" from memory.

I would normally be attracted to threads like this, but nah.

The 21st century has been one of continual decline. Any best-of side we put out would pale against a side from the last 25 years of the previous century, or indeed one from 1950-74. It's arguably been our weakest ever quarter century.

When he was on form, he was a great player.
