Martinez looks to have been a victim of his own first season success. He adapted a squad largely bequeathed to him and made it work in a new system. I reckon that's lulled him into a false sense of security over the necessity to rid of us over the hill Moyes players. It's easy to say in hindsight, of course, but he really should have been looking to quicken the pace of evolution away from the older players in the squad last summer. Actually, many of us could see that perseverance with the CB pairing of Jagielka and Distin was flirting with danger. Similarly, many saw us being short of true playmaking quality, preferring to soldier on with the likes of Osman and Naismith. He left this alone and it's destroyed the season. Now he's effectively a season behind where he could have had us.

Mcgeady and Atsu.

Amongst others not making the impact they need to.

Our wings are as weak as a wet paper bag this season.

Nothing wrong whatsoever with Naismith. There's only so much a soldier like him can do when others aren't putting the effort in.

Naismith tries but he is not good enough for a first team slot.
