Teams in the relegation zone rarely string numerous results together.

If you are 14th, you need 4 teams to overtake you. With 3 games to go and us having 2 home games, one against sunderland to play you need 4 teams bettering your results to send you down. All 4 teams are not going to do it

If you're 17th you only need one team to go on a run. And one team always does.

I'd rather have teams between us and relegation than points.

That's correct, but we've seen even recently that a certain amount of relegation threatened teams could all win on the same day. Happened a couple of weeks ago with Palace, Burnley, Hull and Leicester (?) I think. Therefore, 4 teams could leapfrog us with one win in the first scenario, leaving us in 18th. However, in the second scenario, the team in 18th would have to win TWO of their remaining 3 games just to overtake us, assuming we lost both. In the second scenario one win virtually guarantees safety, even a point would more or less secure it

I suspect Moyes got so much time because he did a really good job and didn't deserve to be sacked.

And I suspect people are concerned about relegation, because with over half the season gone, we are only a few points from the relegation zone, I suspect Mike Walker has nothing to do with it.

Martinez will turn this around though.

Moyes is a terrible manager.

We're in no danger of relegation.

But if it was 1 point then all the teams below need one win to go above you? or draws to be level. 1 game could take you into the relegation zone, in the other scenario that wouldn't be the case

What are you mithering yourself about last three games of the season for?

This is the whole problem: some are getting way too far ahead of where we are at right now. Be vigilant and mindful of what could happen, yes, but dont let it overcome you with headless chicken panic.
It's a general discussion point though about relegation battles, doesn't have to be about Everton specifically. You're now deflecting away from your poor logic to turn it back towards people panicking too much.

Fact is, the points gap to the relegation places is more important than the number of teams between us and relegation.

Exactly.

In your scenario, no team that's above 14th in the table in JANUARY can possibly get relegated. That's insane to think that

Well, no.

He's saying that this team which is above 14th in january will not get relegated. It won't.

That's because it's too good and other teams are too bad.

Don't broaden it to apply to any team in that position.

No, I and others are trying to slow down a runaway train of panic and hysteria inspired by people who's goal it is to unseat the manager.

That's all this is and can be at this stage. Decent people are being duped by these phonies. Dont let them wreck your head and confidence about where we are right now and what this team is capable of in the remainder of the season. Dont fall for it.

I'm not buying that. We've played like drains for 2/3 of this season, and haven't been able to beat some very poor sides who are considered "worse" than us
