It's an interesting puzzle. He doesn't play enough games to justify the wage and never has, but his presence seems to make a massive difference. You're basically conceding that you need an extra CB (essentially doubling Mina's wage) that you're going to have a hard time keeping happy with his playing time should you keep Mina.

It's a no-brainer if we had an aging Baines-type longtime servant as one of our CBs, but we don't.

Branthwaite. Cheap, good experience and fills a similar profile to Mina. That's what these young lads should be getting used for.

I feel like he's not ready, needs at leat one more season on loan.

He will be providing cover though, he can play a couple of games, it will be fine. If we send him out on loan and then get someone in to cover Mina when he is injured then next season we will have 3 CBs for one role.

Very disappointing at corners after displaying great signs at the World Cup. Erratic defender with good presence but slow as night and runs like he is carrying a bag of cement. We need better.

Even so I don’t fancy him. I remember a lot of poor clearances led to goals - like the one he back-heeled. If he is our best CB we need three new ones.

Was a freak bounce off a header by Peruvian player that zoomed off Yerry's chest. He couldn't get out of the way...

Having a great copa america by the looks of it. Contract for another 2 seasons...surely either we sale this summer or we renew his contract...I would be tempted with the later as not sure you could find much better defender on a reasonable fee...
