I thought that as well but I would also think e will expect these wingers to work extra hard in his pressing system and I can see them being subbed like for like with 20 to go. It would be a nightmare for defenders (who morally don't get subbed even if tired to be put under not stop pressure for 90 mind when they have ball and run at when they don't esp on counter attack. 4 proper wide men for the 2 wings
That would be super cool and stylish. It would be amazing to see Everton with sophisticated, stylish and.ruthless tactics

I suggest you swerve in before posting in the future
lol

so if our current DOF signed this lad at his last club and he was part of that winning team, it would be madness?

Or the fella we went out our way and paid a small fortune just to get to manage the club wants him for that matter, madness.

Gueye is a clone of Kante, yes. And I think he'll do an incredible job for us in that respect. But I think he has a vision and a wicked attacking mentality that Kante doesn't have.

I think Gueye could be a Scholes type player rather than a Vieira player as Kante is - and as he currently is right now.

Or maybe I'm talking nonsense.

I'm willing to admit it

No offence DT, can i ask how many times you have seen him play?

It's extremely difficult to get a true grasp of how much a fee actually is

In some instances a signing fee is paid sepeartly and through the new clubs payroll and not therefore included in the fee paid and sometimes the old club pays a loyalty bonus but reclaims that in the fee. Sometimes it's a combination. You then get training compensation ,the sum retained by the FA, the agents fees and again who pays them.

The transfer of footballers is subject to VAT .Domestic transfers in the UK are taxable at the 20% rate. However, transfers between football clubs in the EU don't include VAT.Sales from a UK club to a club outside the EU are also free of VAT, although if a UK club buys a player from outside the EU it must account for VAT on the purchase.

There are all sorts of other issues but I always take fees with a pinch of salt so say for instance Stones went for £47 million was that with VAT? Something I very much doubt.

If he came in for £12M maybe it'd be bearable.

Another suspicion I have is that it's going to encourage a kick and run game.

which although doesn't fill me with confidence ... is pretty much what leicester did last season.

There's a genuine lack of good wingers in world football these days which is a shame, but the advancement of attacking full backs means all teams have large gaps in behind now. If we have two pacey wingers who can outstrip full backs in games where it's required it could work.

I hear that abomination of a defender moreno got ripped to shreds again? Most the full backs in this league stand out because of what they do in attack rather than defence. Not many gary neville's left.

Longs goalscoring arte is always something brough tup againstb thpose that don't want him mate - so a bit amsuign you quote Bolasies arte as a negative but want Long - when in reality what both bring is not really shown in pure 'stats' etc

For a winger i'm sure the quality of striker/attacking mids you ghave massively influence your key passes, chances created and assists stats mate, Bolasie has been playing with utter dog turd at Palace in thos positions, throw Deulofeu into that team he doesn't score anythign and doesn't create much either
Long (a sub most of the time at S'ton) 15 goals in 60 appearances; Bolasie 8 goals in 133 appearances.

Long maybe limited but he pisses all over that headless chicken.

on the basis of what we've seen (which is all we can judge on) he deserves a bit of trust I reckon, that game on Saturday, been a while since the crowds been up for a league game like that
Spurs at home last season we did exactly the same thing mate: got into them and got a 1-1 draw.

Let's not go overboard about a bit of chasing down.

Mate, we were playing some great footy and well placed in the league until the autumn of last season. It isn't ancient history this: those players were getting plaudits for their attacking play - play which was producing loads of goals. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

The fact that they fell apart under their own torpor and poor player/manager relations is neither here nor there. Koeman needed to come in here and recognise that. We dont need root and branch surgery, we need that defence sorting out.

Agree to disagree Dave thought we had a few good results early doors last season but generally looked dodgy

Our strengths under Martinez were to counter with the ball at our feet not to belt it downfield. It was controlled attacking play and we were one of the best teams in the PL at it. THAT was our strength and that's what should be preserved. Fix the defence and leave the rest intact.

Trouble is mate that idiot had no idea on how to sort the defense, he was hopeless. Imagine not training corners or dead ball situations, Martinez was a bellend of the highest order and needed to be sacked and he was...

not going overboard mate, just contrasting with the feel of the club now as opposed to end of last season
anyway i'm at brom so hopefully will see it carry on

If only we'd had more active players, Martinez would have led us to glory.
