Quite expensive, time consuming, lack of original information, nothing for the non Beatles fan, better attractions for free elsewhere.

Alright mate, cheers.

They have just opened up a Beatles in India exhibition with exclusive interviews with Pattie & Jenny Boyd and images from Paul Saltzman, well worth going to see.

Hey everyone,

I'm a 20 year old American studying abroad in Barcelona for the summer. One of the first things I had on my bucket list while studying in Europe was to come to Goodison to watch a match. I was able to buy tickets for the Merseyside Derby and just had some questions about the city and the stadium.

First off, my seats are in Lower Gwladys 4 Row FF. In general, what should I expect from these seats? And is there anything I should know before coming to the match (songs, traditions, etc.)?

Secondly, I wanted to know more about the city. What are the must sees/must dos (restaurants, bars, attractions).

Finally, where is the best part of town to stay? Being a student, I have a limited budget, so areas with cheaper hostels or housing would be preferred.

Thanks and COYB,
Dan

Definitely go on the Mersey Ferry.

It is the only way to truly appreciate how beautiful Liverpool is,. It is also the best way of understanding where our new stadium will be (next to the dock tower with all of the clock faces, right on the river front) and how ridiculously good the location really is.

The whole thing takes about 50 minutes.

Mr Jonathan,

enjoy your visit.

@dchryst good man for representing us Yanks! My trip a few years ago was amazing. Look at AirBNB. For me it was cheaper than a hotel. I did a few drinks on Matthew Street, but that was about as "touristy" as I got. Mostly went out drinking.

The people of Liverpool are amazing and some of the friendliest I've ever met. As soon as you open your mouth you'll have people asking you where you're from. Pro tip: Don't say "America" as they already know that lol. They're asking what part.

Check out Heebie Jeebies on Seel Street. Had a blast there. Great music, vibe. Didn't run into any scallys there either. Make sure to have a pint at the Winslow before the match. And Hot Wok after the game is pretty lively. It's right there down the street from the Park End.

Anyway have a blast. Still one of my best trips ever.

@dchryst Also make sure have cash on you. A lot of the food places don't take debit cards or credit cards. I found that out to my horror complete wasted at 3am walking down Berry St looking for food. How I managed to find an ATM, get food and find my way back to my flat I'll never know haha

Some uni friends of mine came over (a few years ago) and stayed at the International Inn which is at 4 S Hunter St, Liverpool L1 9JG. Probably looking at between £30 and £40 per night. They said it was alright for the money.
It is next to Liverpool John Moores University, near the student union, so you should be able to nip in and grab a cheap pint and a burger, if you have some sort of student card.

Funnily enough, some of my scouse Evertonian mates visit New York when they can and say there's a great Everton bar there.

I'll have to go at some point!

Good thread.

I'm a 31 year old Yank also making my first appearance at the Derby. I bought a ticket through Stubhub back during the Holidays, but then signed up with the EvertonUSA group to go along with them. I figured it was worth the extra money to see Finch Farm and meet other American fans. However nobody from their organization has responded to my emails, tweets or messages, and I'm starting to think I'm going to be on my own. However I already have my flight over to Dublin (super cheap) and flights in between Dublin and Liverpool. Its also my spring break (I'm a teacher) and my fiancee is going to be in Vegas for a bachelorette party, so there is no way I'm canceling, as this is probably my last chance to do this trip the way I want to do it.

If they do get back to me, what's the best course of action for selling my extra ticket? As I would get a ticket through their package. I'm pretty sure that I have to pick it up at will call. Can anyone use it or do they have to have ID connected with the ticket?

Also if I'm locked into the ticket is there anyway to donate it to a charity or organization for kids? It would make the sting of losing $125 hurt a little less.

I liked the Anglican, but there's so much to do there in the City. Beatles Story was a bit underwhelming, but we did this because of time limits. Take a tour of Goodison if you can. The Lisbon isn't far from Matthew Street, and it's a favorite of many here. On matchday, so many choices near Goodison and up and down County Road. Walked up to Everton Brow with the Mrs, and would have kept walking to Goodison, but she wasn't having any of it, but that jaunt is worth the effort.
