Bit harsh on Johnson like. Did very well for us 1st season then the referees union decided they'd ruin his career by totally destroying his confidence (although Moyesie playing him as a corner flag hardly helped his goalscoring feats it has to be said).

I dont subscribe to that old cheastnut mate. That was just his game. I think he felt more at home in the corner than bareing down on goal. He was great for about 3 months, but their was never that much to his game. Once he lost his confidence it was all over for him. At best dave he's a good championship player.

On the other hand Yakubu, could an would grace any pitch on the planet an score goals. Yes he might stroll round with out a care in the world. But that is his game. At the end of the day he has that special nack of putting the ball in the net. Theirs only probably about 50 players on the planet like that. Who just don't have to work at it. An we have one, an some want to get rid.

Theyre complete opposites but Yakubu scores goals. Goals win games and its how a forward is judged on. He does my head in when he cant be arsed running but Id have the Nigerian one over Johnson any day.

Yak can score goals we know that, but chances have to be made and that is not happening. Yak was signed as a striker not a fetch and carry. The lack of goals is IMO down to the tactics. It is the same with all the strikers we have signed, they cannot cope with 4-5-1.

I think 4-5-1 is fine if it is the case that we have a midfield that can provide the service to the lone forward. Unfortunately, our midfield looks incapable of doing that at the moment. That should have been fixed in the summer, but someone preferred to concentrate on other things and didn't get around to it.
