Walcott hasn’t played pre-season so won’t start vs Wolves IMO.

The XI for Valencia will be very similar to the XI at Wolves. Maybe someone like Digne could come off the bench and then start but anyone not in the squad then probably won't feature

Never really like playing the promoted teams (particularly away) at the start of the season.... They're usually well up for it, and still full of confidence....

hard to disagree that that is a worse midfield. Baines & Cahill decent there

Most have Walcott in their team but unless if he plays against Valencia as much as I'd rather have him instead of Mirallas or Sandro with no pre season I don't think it can be justified.

I can't see Digne being thrown in straight away and likewise if we do sign another CB it's unlikely they'll start.

Just to make it clear this isn't the team I want to start this is what I think will start! I want Mirallas gone just as much as everyone else but unfortunately we're stuck with him.

If Dowell could put in a good performance against Valencia maybe he might be ahead of Davies (who hasn't impressed much either). I hate being a pessimist but I can see it being a very difficult game and if you were to offer us a draw first game in the position we look like we're in I'd take it now.
