There's no way the Poles will accept russia on their doorstep. And the flight aspect of the new neighbours will see an exodus not witnessed since late 30's Germany. People panic, when there is fear in the air, anywhere will do. Taking Ukraine could have a domino effect, and I wonder what agreements have been drafted for mineral rights and produce rights elsewhere. Like the school yard bully, you pay for protection or his gang will 'kin hammer you. When you've spent the family silver you're done for all the same. Collateral damage. Everton is a symptom of a larger piece of humanity. Casual escapism was ransacked and flogged to disney and co decades ago.
It`s going to be interesting to see with those that voted for him, when the economy starts tanking due to his tariffs and jobs start going.

The most optimistic scenario is that we end up with troops there as a peacekeeping force under some kind of treaty. I can't see Putin not testing it though, by trying to grab a bit of Lithuania or Moldova and seeing what we do.

it's all so confusing on so many levels, but this sort just want to win at any expense. it's RS level of delusion. the "law and order" party is fine with riots at the capitol. generations of republicans were groomed on the evils of communism only to hop on Putin's d*ck when Trump says that's the right thing to do. mind blowing levels of cognitive dissonance, all of it.

It seems some master strategist there is banking on the pain turning up first elsewhere. This could be a white knuckle ride into the gutter with a winner takes all goal at the end of it. Beyond brinksmanship already, sabre rattling, somehow a country (russia) has invaded a neighbour, it's the neighbours fault, and the Chinese are copping the brunt of some of it. No idea if it has a name in chess, and I have no idea if history has examples of a slash and burn policy at home and abroad in it's lines anywhere. Where is sanctuary?
