Anyone who knows about football accepts that Martinez was the only coach we've had since Harvey and Kendall. The rest have been clueless hoof merchants. Royle knew how to mix it up, so honourable exception on that.

I quite like your constantly alternative views.
However this . and your obsessive views about Martinez , and Silva . Phew.
Stop talking rubbish lad ( in my view).
Also remember Moyes did better than both of them with no money !

Update:

Wins = 34
Draws = 6
Losses = 3

GF = 134 (3.0 goals scored per game on average)
GA = 30 (0.7 goals conceded per game on average)
coaching a win over the mighty Cyprus, Absolutely unreal this fella how long until the big teams like Southampton and Watford come knocking?

No. He'd be better than Silva - but Martinez tactics has always been flawed. A possession based plan that seemed to falter anytime the team was low on confidence.

Works with Belgium confirming the assertion he just needed better players than Moyes mob of mediocrity

yeah he’s really pulling up trees beating Azerbaijanlol

I will keep this really simple again for you. At Everton, he took over a consistent top 6-7 team and finished 11th twice, once he implemented his own players.

Let’s stick to the facts shall we?

Moyes spent 13m over 11 years, he got 4th and a cup final.

Martinez spent 60m over 3 years, he got 5th and a Semi.

Its not even close to a contest.

Moyes got 4th on fewer points than Martinez did getting to 5th,which should show you something about those respective seasons. Moyes also achieved our lowest ever points tally in Premier league, lower even than the magic 40pt mark. Also, the transfer totals are skewed because of the number of Players from Moyes team that either retired or were released and had to be replaced. Martinez actually didn't spend a great deal per player, and is distorted by the Lukaku fee and the Niasse transfer, which was done in the January months before his firing, and I'm still not sure was down to Martinez.

You still seem unsure of the overarching point despite having asked twice.

Let me be concise and see if it helps.

Martinez was aiming to smash the glass ceiling created by Moyes dour defensive hoof ball so his target was BETTER than 6th or 7th and ultimately trophies to re-align the club with it's great historic traditions. The promising first season with the introduction of fabulous loanees and moderate buys (relative to the elite clubs) put us on the starting blocks but only a simpleton could not see we needed a SQUAD of such talent to press on and we didn't have the dough to do it.

The dregs of the market and players of Moyes glass ceiling era were never going to cut it and the inevitable collapse began.The crazy thing is we've since reverted to lowest common denominator football with Koeman and Allardyce and look at the screeching from the faithful!!!

This is quite a simple premise if you clear your mind of Moyes 6th or 7th without silverware being what this club is about, but if you can't you can't - try not to fret about it

I would add the evolution of Spurs and the emergence of City as additional hurdles for Martinez to overcome adds more perspective to the comparison. The fact he got such a points total in more exalted company is testament to what a great start he made, pity he didn't have the money to crack on and finish the job

Judging by his vision of playing possession football with players like Mori, Naismith, Lennon and Niasse, I wouldn't expect to still be in the division if Martinez had been kept on.

anyone who knows this forum accepts that you come out with some absolute whoppers. you then argue the shiz out of it (often changing your point or going off on tangents) to the point where no one can be bothered carrying on, akin to a WW1 army general - it’s a war of tangential attrition.

This is one of those whoppers, he didn’t teach us how to defend or take set pieces, just how to win the possession. Further, they’ve all coached us, just not in possession-based tactics.

phenomenal whopper there, even for you.

How many points did we have in 87 when we won the Title?

If you can tell me that without googling it then I will concede that points in a season is important.

The points you get do not matter, only the place you finish.

So if we win the league on less points than Moyes got in his 4th place season, you’d rank that as a lesser achievement?

Go away.

Could also be argued that the only decent season Martinez ever had in the PL Spurs and United sacked their managers they were that bad.
