I think that team would win the league no sweat, might struggle if Man U can pick their best team from last 30 yrs though as well (n)

no tim cahill or trevor steven or gary speed?

It's all about opinions. For me Trevor Steven could easily be in that squad but not a chance for Cahill or Speed (RIP). Top top blokes that gave great service to the Blues but neither had the skills to feature in a top team.

Aye. United, Arsenal and Chelsea would have some impressive teams using that criteria, especially if we're using players at their best rather than how they played for that team (as we seem to have done with Rooney). I mean Chelsea alone would benefit from that with the likes of Shevchenko, Gullit, Vialli, Desailly, Weah, Deco, Veron, Panucci and even Torres all having been very successful at other clubs.

What a team that would be, forgot about Weah playing at Chelsea

naughty team that. I loved Deco, even at Chelsea. Sexy little [Poor language removed]

The thing that worries me about these 'hypothetical best XI threads' is that we never take into consideration
how league has evolved over the years... The premier league has become one of the most physically grueling leagues in the world to compete in...
Would players from 2,3 or 4 decades ago be able to handle the physical demands that is required to play todays league?

I think we have to work on the basis that they have the same physical preparation as today's players. If not, the eighties team couldn't live with the pace of today's footie. The likes of Reid and Van Den Hauwe would be suspended for half the games today too.

Indeed... That would have to be the case...

It would interesting to see how a player like Alan Ball or Lineker would adapt to today's league if they were transported through time...

I'm also pretty sure that if you took a player like Osman back to the 80's, he'd be the next freakin' Messi!

Ball Harvey Kendall. - "the only 3 man title winning side" Brian Labone

Throw in Big Nev, Dixie and Alex Young and a defence with someone like Reidy for extra steel and you can name any opposing XI you want as far as I am concerned.
