While we are all in a joyful and positive mood about Everton I thought we could all have a open counselling session about awful Everton moments. Last years Semi-Final was bad, the 80's Final losses to that lot were bad but i wall only a child and not at them but they are in the top 10.
For me, the worst moment of following Everton was 10th March 2002. FA Cup quarter final away to Middlesbrough on a Sunday. After a heavy night out and about 2 hours kip, i was woken up by my mate banging on the door ( He made the sensible decision to stay in ) feeling rough and sick, I realise i need to get back on the ale to sort me out. I grab the only alcohol i had in the house, a bottle of whiskey ( Cheap stuff, not a decent 10 year single malt )
After a few drinks, i felt better and the excitement levels when up a notch. We all laughed and joked about getting to Cardiff and making a weekend of it. Feeling confident we could smash the smoggies, we were more concerned about the Semi-Final draw ( Would it be Arsenal or Chelsea??? ) As we got into the ground you could feel the excitement from the fellow blues behind the goal.
After 42 mins, when Ince put in the third goal that was the moment for me, the moment of pain that i was watching a fcuking awful abomination of an Everton team. Me and a mate went from the stand and ordered 4 pints each, we never went back up to watch the second half we could not be arsed. I do remember the crowd asking for Smith to have an extended holiday break.
Later on in that day when I eventually went sick, the sick symbolished how we played that day.
