Worst Everton Moment

While we are all in a joyful and positive mood about Everton I thought we could all have a open counselling session about awful Everton moments. Last years Semi-Final was bad, the 80's Final losses to that lot were bad but i wall only a child and not at them but they are in the top 10.

For me, the worst moment of following Everton was 10th March 2002. FA Cup quarter final away to Middlesbrough on a Sunday. After a heavy night out and about 2 hours kip, i was woken up by my mate banging on the door ( He made the sensible decision to stay in ) feeling rough and sick, I realise i need to get back on the ale to sort me out. I grab the only alcohol i had in the house, a bottle of whiskey ( Cheap stuff, not a decent 10 year single malt )

After a few drinks, i felt better and the excitement levels when up a notch. We all laughed and joked about getting to Cardiff and making a weekend of it. Feeling confident we could smash the smoggies, we were more concerned about the Semi-Final draw ( Would it be Arsenal or Chelsea??? ) As we got into the ground you could feel the excitement from the fellow blues behind the goal.

After 42 mins, when Ince put in the third goal that was the moment for me, the moment of pain that i was watching a fcuking awful abomination of an Everton team. Me and a mate went from the stand and ordered 4 pints each, we never went back up to watch the second half we could not be arsed. I do remember the crowd asking for Smith to have an extended holiday break.

Later on in that day when I eventually went sick, the sick symbolished how we played that day.

This, above anything else. Or at least for us young ones

As "When you walk...." Boomed out around Wembley. Knowing that we'd had the worst Liverpool team in years on the ropes at half time and crumbled. That hurt.

Walked out as Carroll scored and heard that blasting out as I got to the ramp

Last years Derby at Anfield was painful, Moyes playing a weakend team when it was there for the taking.

0-2 down against Wimbledon, last game of the season. It was happening , we were going down. It was the first time it had seriously crossed my mind that we wouldn't get out of trouble!

Losing 5-0 to City on the last day of the season, although the game was meaningless in terms of the outcome, It was the worst 90 mins of football I have ever seen from any Everton team

Definitely after the semi-final last year, I was in Austria on a train cabin with two kopites and we were watching a stream. Had to sit and take their abuse for 2 more hours of the journey. Really contemplated jumping off.

For some reason I always remember getting beat in the FA cup final by Man Utd in 1985 as my worst moment. absolutely gutted when Whiteside scored that curler. Even worse than losing to liverpool twice in 86 and 89. Not sure why, prob cos I expected to beat them, whereas i half expected to be beaten by Liverpool.

The 09 final was pretty tough, because when Saha scored I genuinely believed that is was all about to happen. They say it's the hope that kills you, and I can't remember ever being more hopeful than in the moments after that goal.

Still, last years semi was worse.

Semi Final 2011

Ref blows for a free kick. Everyone stands up. I know whats coming so I don't bother.

Cannot see the pitch only view I have through the mass of blues is a square on view of the Liverpool supports. Hear the whistle, see the Liverpool fans jump up and celebrate.

Dont utter another word till I am back in Liverpool. Gutted
