marathon not a sprint, was out of sight in the first session and probably should have been a frame or two further clear. Wheels fell off second half of the second. Reeled in at the finish line. It's the blue riband event, and O'Sullivan only plays private parties in saudi nowadays. hows that supposed to prepare for the toughest match play snooker there is?

Higgins has made a career out of street brawling when others haven't the stomach for it. Pure grit. A massively underrated trait. But this is just burnishing the legend - both of himself and of the class of 92. He'll not win another.

Neither, in all likelihood, will Selby. His form since that purple patch before Christmas presaged this. That was his level in his pomp - but now it is the exception.

Zhao looks perfectly primed to me. I expect he'll blow Murphy away in the quarters.
