I think the long matches are what makes the tournament interesting. You get the ups and downs that you don't see in other tournaments. It's the pinnacle like in test cricket. You don't get the same drama in a t20 or a best of 9 snooker match.

I agree, but not in the earlier rounds .... the tournament could be shortened by a few days at least .....

Nah. It's perfect as it is. Shorter matches mean more fluke victories. The longer the match, the more likely it is the better player prevails. And that's what the world championship should be trying to achieve: that the best player wins.
And even if the best player doesn't always win - and he doesn't - nobody can have any excuses after this marathon.

Joey, it's not your tournament. Why should it be shortened just because an grumpy, old man isn't happy with the format?
The viewing figures are dropping - the venue is too small - plus the best player ever is getting fed up with the game - I may watch he final depending who is in it ......

I don't mind a bit of snooker, the skill and control is something else. But there's always a but... Steve Davis and John Parrott or rather Bitter Davis and Anecdote Parrott need to be put out to seed. And then there's Shaun The Dreadful Snooker Snob... The only other minor gripes are Higgins licking his lips like Lecter and "perfect" Virgo & Doherty.
