I'll start watching at the end of June when the times are generally an improvement for those of us in Europe. The group stage has next to no jeopardy. 5-minute highlights of each game more than enough for me.

Did you watch the Afcon? It was insane. Cards given for nothing, and career ender challenges* totally unpunished. Empty stadiums for the favourite sides, and packed stadiums for the amateurs. All of it was nonsense. It was actually fitting the final was such a farce and they've only gone and made it worse in the aftermath.

Sadly, the us element of this years WC has totally overshadowed the Mexican and Canadian parts. How the faux bronzed fuhrer makes the headlines this summer will take a lot of luck or a lot of bullets.

I was thinking about this a couple of weeks back. For the those England based, surely the BBC and ITV will show full re-runs on iplayer or ITVX? Especially for the 5am games. I know it's not the same as watching live because of spoilers but yeah...

At least it guarantees USA vs Iran (Friday, July 3rd 1900-2100) will be able to be watched by most of Africa, Europe and the Middle East at a reasonable hour; one imagines pubs in Bejing will also be doing a roaring trade at 4am.
