World Cup 2022

I don't really agree with the premise that MLS support should be considered. It's the World Cup. You're going to sell tickets. Making it the best it can be for those attending and fair for the players (so honestly Mexico in June is pretty questionable but they were included in the bid) should be the priorities.

Honestly the way the world is going a lot of these outdoor stadiums might be awful for it. You can make a case for 100% domes and I might agree.
Don’t mean MLS support. KC is a community that embraces and loves the game. It’s also just underrated as a city to visit in general.

SF and Boston as a whole couldn’t give a toss, and apologies to anyone who lives there but SF is a giant garbage can of a city.

As I said I just think the whole process should be "which are the best cities for people to come to and go to the matches?" To me KC isn't in on that.

But yes the others are much much worse.

I am genuinely surprised at no DC/Baltimore or Charlotte. KC is a good location but a lot more other cities that i think are poor choices honestly.
It's annoying because they are always going to pick the big cities but some of them are really just not great fan experiences. LA is one that isn't going to be ignored but SOFI is a nightmare to get to and from. It just annoys me because I think a few solid cities got ignored essentially because of their brands relative to others and not because they're less suitable.

Really shocked at the venue selections there, to be honest.

The big one one for me, is the exclusion of Vegas. I thought they’d have seen what the NFL has done recently in Vegas, and been all over it.

I know why they picked “New York”, but MetLife is garbage, soulless dump.

San Francisco is 2 hours from the City, and Foxboro whilst closer is still a way out.

Surprised at lack of DC/Baltimore and then anywhere in Indiana/Illinois/Ohio.

Still 3 Mexican venues, that’ll do.

MetLife is a decent stadium but it's literally in the middle of nowhere. Even a train out there is half an hour. There's nothing there at all.

Vegas I can KIND of see being passed over because this is going to be in the summer. I know the stadium is closed roof and all but the parties aren't.

DC/Baltimore tho? It's the nations capital (or really close to it). No Chicago is crazy to me, only the 3rd biggest city. Vancouver/Seattle? Why not one?

Just really weird decisions for the most part.

Vegas didn't bid I don't think. Chicago withdrew their bid because the Bears want to build a new stadium so 2026 is kind of in flux for them.

You have a list of cities that bid? Just curious on who did/didn't
I don't have the full list. I do know the ones cut yesterday were Cincy, Nashville, Baltimore, Denver, Edmonton and Orlando. Those first four all get it for me over some of those picked.

I read Sofis playing surface isn’t even big enough unless they remove some seats. LA is also just a nightmare to get anywhere in general.

They got screwed even though they didn’t bid? Interesting take. And where exactly in Milwaukee would they have played?
Ok I didn't know about the fact they didn't bid, I haven't been keeping up with this. Milwaukee? I meant the Green Bay Packers stadium, which covers the whole state of Wisconsin pretty well.

I'm also shocked Charlotte didn't get any games either. Hell, even Denver could've got some games. The host cities for the 2026 WC are a huge let-down imo. The only city that's appealing is KC.
