See the NYT has bought Wordle for a seven figure sum.

Look forward to having to sign up and create an account so it can harvest your data, getting bombarded with 30 second video ads prior to each new game, before it finally goes behind a subscription paywall.

The legality of selling this game seems dubious. Clearly the “creator” did not actually invent the game. Isn’t he going to get pelted with lawsuits now that he’s cashed in? I can’t see how this ends well for anyone involved, including the players.
