I'm not saying they weren't influenced by islamic extremists, and I actually DO think that it is a problem in this country that can't be ignored (as proved by yesterdays event). The problem I have is that these people are labelled 'Muslims' when they're not, and the whole innocent, peaceful muslim community in this country are blamed and discrminated for it. Even though they're about as extremist as you and me.
Of course you don't have to be insane to kill people, but these two guys yesterday were clearly off their barnets.
They are Islamic extremists. They weren't just influenced by them. You say they're not 'Muslims'??? Why? Because they don't fit your definition of it? There's whole countries that follow a similar doctrine to what these types of people believe.
The Koran isn't like the bible. It's to be read as if God is speaking directly to you. That means the book is open to interpretation by the reader. Most find a Mullah, or teaching, they believe and follow it. They are Muslim and will be considered as such by a large percentage of the muslim world.
If the moderate Muslims of this country genuinely wanted to rid this country of extremism they could let the people in power know who is radical and we'd all be a million times safer this time next week. They don't because it's an insular sector of society that doesn't believe in the sovereignty and laws of this country.
They were not off their barnets. They made a conscious decision to attack a British soldier to make a political or religious point.
