Not necessarily, hit the woodwork and it goes in, its classed as an unstoppable awesome shot.
Hitting the woodwork is like hitting the wire on dart board.. hit the treble 20 wire on dartboard 3 times and you lose to a noob that hits a 3 a 5 and misses the board.. Its not bad darts from you.. its bad luck..
That's the main difference between hitting a post and a missed shot.
Its unlucky that it doesn't go in, a missed shot will always miss, a post shot can go in off or out off, rebound to the opposition, or rebound to one of your own depending on your luck, a missed shot leaves the pitch and that's that.
I don't think its quite as black and white as your comment.

Goes without saying.. nonetheless if you hit the woodwork 19 times or more without scoring you are unlucky. Or very impressive, but your getting carried away with the GP half time entertainment... you won 16 shots ago ffs.. stop shooting at the bar.
Chelsea won but that is nothing at all to do with whether hitting the bar is unlucky or not.

Are we hitting the woodwork more because we're creating more chances than anyone else? Maybe we're trying too hard to put the ball out of the 'keepers reach? I was surprised that we've hit the woodwork about three times more than Arsenal and City and almost five times as much as Chelsea.
