Every team that finished ahead of us had an enormous advantage in terms of budget. It’s ridiculous to blame Moyes for not cracking that ceiling. We could have won a cup but there is ultimately a lot of luck involved in doing so.

I'd be surprised if TFG really care all that much about the second most relevant domestic cup competition. So long as Moyes stays on course to deliver a mid-table-ish finish, thus protecting (if not increasing) the value of their asset, I doubt an early EFL cup exit will really matter to them and their business plans.

I think they would have seen the impact of a cup win for Newcastle and Palace and would have been quite keen for Everton to achieve the same.

Don't forget where we were when he took over. We were destined to go down.he restored pride in us and had us in Europe regularly. He can't take us that extra yard because all the top teams are constantly getting richer by qualifying for the champions League. Even when he got us there we were cheated out of it.

Do the ‘major teams’ not also play weakened sides in the early rounds of the FA cup?

Some of them but some of them have already dumped out of Europe by then so don't have to manage their squads quite as much.
