Surely we won't be even entertaining the notion of "resting" players for this game.

We've been drawn in a tough group, its crucial to get a result in this to get us off to a good start. Start messing about with team selections and we won't even see the knockout stage.

Would be nice to have a two- or three-goal lead allowing us to take Baines off and give Garbutt some experience. But I suspect this game is way too soon for Kone and besides, who would you drop to make room for him? Lukaku, Naismith, Eto'o or Mirallas?

Winning Europa for me. The odds are against us in either scenario, but with fewer total games in the Europa League, it makes an anomalous result more likely. On a given day anyone can beat anyone, but if two teams play each other 1000 times, the better team will always come out ahead on aggregate. Same thing here, we're not favorites to win Europa or to finish top 4, but a fluke is more likely in the former scenario.

Plus Martinez knows how to get a team to perform when it comes to cup competitions.

Hibbo/Browning seem cert to play against Swansea. That'll be the game where he rotates. Kone on the bench for Swansea and Oviedo to start I reckon.

Can't see either being available for Wolfsburg or Palace unless someone gets a knock.

Swansea are good and I don't want us going out of a cup so soon.

So screw the idea of playing Hibbo or Browning. If he needs to rest Coleman then he can play Stones there.

Personally, I'd keep the back 5 the same, change one winger for Atsu, change one CM for Gibson/Besic and possibly Osman in for Naismith.
