Winter Break

If its about the weather, then bad weather isnt confined to January (look out the window)...which is the original reason
Resting the players, well yeah maybe...which is what its for now in Europe
Get rid of the international breaks and league cup.

All that will happen is the greedy clubs will fly out for money making games which wont rest the players

In a time of no European football, this has to really sell the premier league around the world. Just try to make the majority of games, localish fixtures if possible - travel is the only real bugbear for this time of year in my eyes.

The end of Premiership football as we know it. Why don't they want to keep something they is unique?

Just bowing to foreign managers demands and money is the killer. Every fan lovs it.

You know, like practically every other football fan ove the age of about 30 I am fast falling out of love with the game.

Outside of following Everton, my interest in soccer outside Evertonia is maintained only by my betting habits, which revolve around football.

But if this move was ever to go ahead then I will be much closer to packing it in because the game will have moved too far away from me.

Christmas = Binging on Everton for me......and has done so even in the days when I still believed in Santa.

Do away with 2 legged carabao cup matches , FA cup replays and close the league for 2 weeks over Christmas
I quite like the FA Cup replays. You see lower league teams play like world beaters against the Chelsea's in the tournament so they can get it to go back to their stadium. Helps them out tremendously with their finances too.

the only this can be done is if the FA Cup is moved to midweek, which will suit us nicely as we will have no game then after the 3rd round and will be rested for the league game at the weekend.

I will go out on a limb and say there is no chance of Christmas football being binned.

Why?

Because Sky and BT are the pipers that call the tune and they love the Festive football fixtures as they are guaranteed bumper viewing figures from people who have dug themselves in for a fortnight and just want to binge on booze, food and football.

If the intention is to give players a rest, it's been badly misjudged. Most of the Prem clubs will sod off to China or America and play a couple of lucrative friendlies to keep the growing army of foreign fans happy, and to line their pockets with a few bob more.
End result will be players who are even more tired and an even more congested fixture list.
What they need to do is bin the pointless international friendlies, but they won't do that because the FA loves making money even more than Premier league chairmen.

The article on the BBC states "A January break has been under discussion which, if agreed, would not impact on the traditional festive football schedule". For me January is depressing enough without having footy to look forward to. That said , at this moment in time, a couple of weeks off from gnashing, wailing and constructive booing would be welcome
