Player Valuation: £40m
Where have they gone these days?

I love nothing more then an exciting winger who takes past about 5 players on a run. Turning players inside and out, it's an art.

Even Ronaldo isn't really an out and out winger these days.

Agree. Too much fannying about these days.

FFS, just try and beat the man and cross it in.

Swerve the fancy interlinking with the full back. Wingers should just get the ball, head down, sprint down the line and attempt to get a cross in. That should be their priority. Get ball and get in a position to cross it. In his early days, Simon Davies was like that. I hoped he would be like that at us, instead he came central whenever he got the ball or dropped back to pass it 3 yards to Hibbert.

Good point about Davies, Danny. I think Moyes hates losing his security blanket of 5 across the middle and keeping it compact. It says something about the way fans feel about wide men that we still hold out a hope that a dud like VDM can show the way.

Agree. But at the moment, we dont really have a central midfielder capable of holding a four man midfield. No midfielder we have has that presence about them. Arteta has, but he needs a ball winner next to him. Cahill hasn't got enough to his game (in my opinion, hes a supporting striker), Fellaini in a few years maybe...

Thats why we need someone like Lucho Gonzalez (too old now though for the fee he would command), Moutinho.... M'bia maybe (Though he would be the ball winner who allows Arteta to drive forward). Someone who can get hold of the ball and drive it forward - who opposition fear and drop back.

I think midfield is a complete and utter mystery to Moyes. If he got the type of player you outline he'd find a way of complicating the matter. You can imagine Moyes saying 'I didn't get to where I am today by not packing out the midfield'.

That Kanchelskis lad wasnt too bad

I watched highlights of the 95 f a cup final tother day, Limpar was a joy to behold.

Kanchelskis wasn't really an out and out winger, he was always looking to score and cut inside alot, similar to Ronaldo really.

A good job i've got Toccy on ignore these days. I bet he's made some smart arse comment.
