I'm writing to all of you here to tell you about an amazing little boy called Will!
Will's dad, James, is a friend of mine so I can tell you first hand how polite and lovely this little fella is!
Will is 4, when he was born no-one knew he had cerebral palsy, it was only when he started missing milestones that alarm bells started ringing and the family got a diagnosis!
His parents were informed that Will would never walk or talk. Well, they were so wrong! He can talk fine and walks with the help of a kaye frame, and when he gets tired he goes in his wheelchair. He also has splints to aid his walking, but cannot crawl with them on so all day theyre on and off like a yoyo!
Although Will can walk with an aid now, it is likely his mobility will deteriorate over the coming years and by the time he's an adult he will almost certainly become wheelchair bound.
There is a procedure available called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy which will increase Will's mobility and keep him active even in adulthood. The only problem with this is the operation is only available in St Louis Childrens Hospital, Missouri, USA (the similar surgery available in the UK is much more invasive and only available to those with near perfect mobility anyway.) Will has been approved for this procedure and the surgeon has recommended a second procedure to lengthen his heel cords and hamstrings whilst there. The problem here is that, for the surgeries, flights and accommmodation, it will cost at least £50,000.
They ideally need to raise this by March 2012 and are desperate for ideas!
So far, they have organised an online charity auction which will run from 1st-7th November 2011

Let's help Will get the operation he deserves!

Got family in St Louis. Gonna see if I can get some help on there. Maybe meals for the family and stuff like that.
