Will one summer be enough?

We have spunked 300m up the wall, we have a clueless DoF and a 1 trick manager, come back in 5 years and then maybe we will have sorted this mess out.
Agreed...and that"s without mentioning the clowns at board level who have presided over and contributed to the mess we are in

It's hard to say because I don't think we've seen enough of a lot of our new players to make a fair call on them. Keane is the closest to starting to look anywhere near a first team footballer out of the peripheral new signings but after last night who knows, there's almost a feeling of just bin them all. First thing we need to do is sort out who's at the helm for the next couple of years. We desperately need a left back and players need to stand up until the end of the season. They should all be playing for their everton careers now.

It's a no-brainer as regards on-field leadership : Captain Jags.
Capt Jags is the sort of absolutely unique leader who commands men that will follow him anywhere....

...
but only for a good laugh

I think they'll do a lot better when we have a competent manager and a settled team not full of old crap.

Keane can’t defend mate, he’s flat footed. He’s a poor centre back

Gylfi, were to start....made a living from stats, can’t influence a game, doesn’t dictate play and runs when it gets tough

Players who stand tall during times of crisis are the ones you keep, these 2 have done the opposite.

Will take years to sort this mess out

There's about 8 players that need replacing and around 10 that need moving out

One summer most definitely will not be enough.

We could still make significant progress though, with the right leadership and squad re-structuring.

We need to trim the squad, make it smaller, and get perhaps another 3 players in the summer who are good enough to have an impact pretty much immediately.

This is the bind we are now in - we can't afford any more poor decisions really. The pressure will be on from that point of view.

Walsh should categorically be sacked and I think Allardyce's approach in terms of writing off games like yesterday also means he should not be here in the summer.

We cannot overhaul the squad again to the degree needed in one season but we can try and bring a manager/DOF in to start us off with a clean slate again from that side and begin re-building.

We just need to try to walk before we can run again.

Such a Champ Man mindset in here. All squads will always have weaknesses because they are always in a transition of some kind.

What we need is direction off the pitch and an identity on the pitch. Suddenly players who looked average fit into a system and it’s all rosy again very quickly.

Sadly it’s not a one season job because Moshiri is like an old rich Dad being played by incompetent people beneath him. When Walsh and his cronies leave I will have some hope that a vision for EFC might be put in place.

Absolutely not, we need a five year development plan, we need people with the ability to look at the club from the very top of the boardroom down to the cleaners and take stock of what we have. We when need a plan to take us where we want to be and have that costed. Then we need to put that plan into action. We cannot expect one window to cure the failures of years of a rudderless existence.
If we don't get to grips with the way this club is run from the very top to bottom our slow and protracted slide into obscurity will continue.

So the general consensus is that anywhere between 2 - 10 windows could be needed to undo the damage caused in a few short months.

As a few have said this amount could be cut down by making good appointments and desisions (are our board even close to being capable of make a good desisions?) the approach so far seems to have been just to throw money at the situation and hope it goes away. Clearly this is not the answer and the majority of fans could have told this to the board at any point. We can but hope that our next manager is already being spoken to or at the very least there is a list of candidates in place.

Imo some of Walshes younger signings have been potentially good in Lookman, Henry and a few others that have gone in to our u23's set up. There is no argument for his first team signings though unfortunately, with the exception of pickford they have been terrible business, still not sure on Cenk but the signs are not good. So do we go for another D. O. F? Or just go back to having a manager in control signings?

I hope the impression that most of us are under with regard to bisto boy being binned at the end of the season are correct. Yesterday was just a massive embarrassment to us all, the pre match comments followed by the team selection and worst of the game it's self which was capped with the large one taking no responsibility for the entire mess.

We have to also hope that moshiri has learned the harsh lessons of this season and indeed the summer before it and is preparing a different approach for the coming summer and recruitment.

Make no mistake, Walsh + co have set this club back at least 5 years - think back to Martinez' first season, we genuinely looked like we were only one or two players away from being genuine, consistent top 4 challengers. Although Martinez ultimately wasn't the manager we thought he was the replacements since then have been awful with recruitment
