A lot of people have questioned the tactics lately but I think it's been pretty shrewd. It was obvious after the west ham game we needed to switch things up, we were getting predictable and teams were able to contain us better despite us outplaying them in the midfield.
I can see why he didnt change for the stoke game, why take an aggressive side there and let redknapp see what he would be facing at goodison? Moyes is well known for holding his cards close to his chest and to be fair I think we did deserve better at stoke with the team we took.
The scunthorpe game also looked well planned out, moyes using his experience of the championship got all our tougher and more physical players in and after seeing heitingas early clattering they were clearly told to get stuck into them. The game played out great, Saha got his goal to keep his momentum going then we shut up shop with all our injury prone players resting up for the derby.
So for the derby I could see it going either way, 4-4-2 to keep momentum going and get some goals early or 4-5-1 to stretch them out. The beauty now is that with recent games it will be hard to predict which way moyes will go, his favoured 4-5-1 or the more aggressive 4-4-2. 4-4-2 seems a winning combination but I reckon liverpool will be expecting it, wouldnt put it past moyes to go 4-5-1 initially with a view to changing more aggressive as liverpool get stretched.
Either way (unlike most) i've been pretty happy with the tactics of late and im sure moyes will pull something out. REALLY looking forward to this one! coyb
