My relationship with spiders certainly got a little worse after moving from "all spiders are a bit cute and friendly" Norway to AR. Not helped by the first two encounters being a brown recluse and a black widow.

It's a wolf spider.

They carry their eggs underneath them, attached to their spinnerets. Once the babies hatch, most of them cling on to the mother for while and eventually disperse.

Ah, yeah, I think we have those here in AR as well.

We have a bunch of those bold jumping spiders here and they both amaze me and freak me out. Very appropriately named spider. Hard to get a photo of though.

I am glad I spotted her camouflage before I started harvesting my cucumbers lol

Magpies will run circles around your cat. They gave my grandma's cat a nervous breakdown.

Sat out on the patio yesterday when this little ball of feathers dropped from the roof.

It soon found it's way off the flags and to the safety of the garden

and was soon joined by it's attentive Father

Again from yesterday - Two immature Blackbirds cooling off at the edge of my wildlife pond.

I think this is a baby Yellow Garden Spider. Shook it's web to make itself look bigger when I got close. Last one I saw was pretty big and more colorful, so I think it's got some growing to do. Unless it's a gender thing?

A common/harbour Seal chilling on a rock down by my local beach. Not sure if its just me but I cant remember seeing so many seals this year - seems to be a big increase in their numbers around the coast of the east Ireland.

The water quality has improved somewhat so maybe fish stocks have risen in the last few years in Dublin Bay.

Sorry @Sphinn but I had totally missed this post. Thanks for sending this link. It will be a good reference as I continue seeing all sorts of spiders around the garden.

Ha, I'm sure that made your relationship evolved to other highs that you would rather not experience. I have a love for spiders because of reading the Charlotte's Web book but that's not to say that I rather not having encounters with Black Widows or Brown Recluse, even finding the wolf spider and her baby made me more conscious when checking for cucumbers as I don't want to be sticking my hand and all of the sudden having a big spider crawling on my arm ?
