Wildlife in your Garden

It's like feeding time at the Zoo for the Herons when all the ducks and Cootr's eggs start hatching, seen a few carry the chick's off šŸ˜”

That's what it must be waiting for? There's usually fishing in that lake/pond but I saw a sign a couple of weeks ago to say fishing suspended for 6 weeks (I think) while they clean it and remove debris and old fishing line while wildlife is breeding. There's a lot of geese, ducks and other water birds there.

Nature (and all that) but if it's there next time I might risk getting wet and *try and boot it up the arse*!

Edit; *No need to involve RSPB, I'm not getting wet for no-one when I don't need to!

šŸ˜‚ (at me) Shows how dumb/thoughtless I am! I didn't give the fish a thought, I thought the sign was for the birds! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ (at least @Eggs noticed the duck-goose thing)

@COYBL25 I wish to withdraw my feelings of personal shame on the public shaming of my ignorance of nature. It's that @Littlesue who started all this saying about how she sees hordes of herons flying off with chickens while she's sat there gorging on lamb! If she hadn't stuck her oar in I would have known the sign was for the fish, not the birds, instead of being distracted by her hatred of herons and getting me to join her gang! I don't want a public apology @Littlesue, as long as you feel bad about what you tried to do is good enough for me!

I downloaded the Merlin app to my phone last autumn and try to record the birds in the garden for a few minutes whenever I can. The number of birds it identifies really surprised me, although quite often, like the wrens and finches, I cannot spot them. One bird that you hardly used to hear is becoming increasingly common - the chiffchaff.
Same here, sadly I'm starting to identify the birds without but because of the app šŸ™‚
We also have a chiffchaff kicking about around the area of our garden, very distinct sound it makes.

S
Got home from work this afternoon and looked out the window to see the first lot of ducklings on the canal this spring. Looks like there are 17 which is the biggest batch I've seen for one mother. See if she manages to hang on to that many, the Heron's and the Seagulls will think it's Xmas šŸ˜”
