Wiki-Leaks Geezer ; A Sex Case ...???

I keep thinking about the law of unintended consequences. These guys (Wikileaks) think they have it all figured it out about what's going to happen as a result. They don't. Assange was gloating in an interview that he's about to "take down a bank or two". That's awesome. Unless you work for that bank and had nothing to do with the subprime mess and are thrown out of work and can't feed your family or keep your house. Releasing these diplomatic cables means that no one will trust anyone anymore to keep those conversations confidential. So guess what happens when diplomacy fails? More conflict and WAR.

Freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech.

...has nothing to do with stealing confidential conversations and publishing them to the world. Go back and read my post again. What they THINK will come of this is not what will ACTUALLY become of all of this. Assange is an anarchist plain and simple. He has no plan other than to create havoc. It's a childish view of the world and reality.

What they'll actually do is tighten up security and carry on using the same means of communication. They have to. It's the way the world works. Glowering clouds, claps of thunder, dramatic events ... very rarely happen. They're bad for business and that's the major concern of governments both east and west.

Didn't understand the op. Is his sexuality interesting or something?

Freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech is preserved even when confidentiality agreements are in place.

Otherwise they wouldn't be legal lad.

The same applies for CBI (confidential business information) and IPR (intellectual property rights).

All companies under EU law are entitled to keep those confidential. Even in legal disclosures to authorities.

EU competition law - also has much to say about this.

In just what information can be shared between companies... SUCH AS BANKS.

I'm not aware they have a view of 'what will become of all this'. They are - contra the yellow dog gutter press and their pals in tv and on the net - committed to holding a mirror up to power and letting it, and us, have a long hard look at it.

You'd have probably taken a dim view of the Watergate investigations of Woodward and Bernstein.

I cant see the issue here. We have the FOI Act and the same principle holds for this wikileaks info: the right to know who's doing what and saying what to whom and for what purposes....they've just cut out the middle man and gotten the source material on an industrial scale.

I HOPE no innocents get hit in the cross-fire. In these circumstances, "civilian" casualties can be heavy. Assange will be met with an unfortunate accident if I believe all of McNab's thrillers.
