Wifi - who has it?

For got to mention, it's worth checking out T mobile, they do some sort of web and walk tariff or something.

At the moment T mobile have a half price sale on their pay as you go phones, but the bonus is that the sims come with free texts and internet for life when you top up with £10. Not sure if there is some sort of capping involved in that one, but could be a good option.

You can always buy a second hand iphone and get it unlocked and pop that T mobile sim card in it (y)

So for £10, you never have to pay for texts or internet again?

Incidently, where does the £3.99 go to?

There's bound to be a fair use policy, but that's what it says on the website. I think Orange unlimited texts is 3000 texts for example, so I'd suspect that the T mobile deal offers a similar amount of free texts under their 'unlimited' banner. As for data usage, I don't know, you'd have to ask them.

Hang on, this little box thing has popped up and someone called Matilda is chatting to me on the t mobile website........back with an update in a sec (y)

This is what the T mobile bird said:

Matilda: Hi there, my name is Matilda I am part of the dedicated T-Mobile Online Sales Team. May I ask if you are enquiring about a new contract or an upgrade today?

Jason: hi, cool name
Jason: quick question, on the pay as you go tariff it mentions unlimited internet and texts. define unlimited?

Matilda: Thanks a lot Jason, I appreciate that.
Matilda: Sure thing! You get unlimited access for browsing (Emails, Facebook, Myspace, Flickr, etc...) and 1GB for downloads (Music, Games, Videos and Applications) every month every month.
Matilda: Since our customers mostly browse the web through their phones, we call it unlimited as browsing is unlimited

Jason: so i coudln't just randomly surf the net on a phone then? i'd get charged for that?

Matilda: Without this deal it would cost £1 per day. On pay as you go we also offer boosters (5 days of Internet for £2.50, 30 days for £5 or 6 months for £20)

Jason: ok, but on this deal can i surf any website? bbc.co.uk, google, etc etc?

Matilda: You can indeed, any website Jason

Jason: cool :)
Jason: so with the unlimited texts, what's the cap on those?

Matilda: It is unlimited to a maximum number of 200 contacts. So you can send as many texts as you'd like to a maximum of 200 Mobile Numbers/Contacts

Jason: that's pretty good :)
Jason: do you know when you might possibly be getting the iphone on t mobile?

Matilda: Possibly by March. We will only know for sure towards the end of January.
Matilda: Thank you for your time today, have a nice day.
Thank you for chatting with us.

does anyone have their broadband setup with SKY and does anyone else find them as crap as I do?

This bird i know has it, and it's shockingly [Poor language removed] for her. The customer support is also terrible. Mind you she doesn't help matters, she's the type to give up if she gets a rough ride from customer support, and is now paying for a service that doesn't work and she doesn't use

I've always said you get what you pay for to some extent, which is why I used AOL for years. But they're service has gone to the dogs since the Carphonewarehouse bought out the AOL UK. My broadband slows to a crawl in the day, and then goes up to decent speeds again late at night. In other words, when you want to use it it's [Poor language removed] and when you are asleep in bed it's brilliant (y)

Sorry had a little winge there. Not sure which companies offer good broadband these days

Bluebastardo, have a little look at this:

YouTube - DELL Touchscreen Android leaked on film - CES 2010

This might be a good option for you, I quite like the look of that my self.

I think there might be quite a few of these little devices that have sims in them for the internet and stuff, but aren't phones, coming out soon. Could get interesting

That looks great.
I'll bet it's a pretty penny though if they are wanting to compete with the opposition in terms of technology and versatility.
Again, thanks for the effort here.
Appreciated.

I genuinely don't know mate. The Mini 9, which is a netbook, is about £150 though. It's not going to be that cheap, but at the same time it's not going to be £1,000 either. If it's subsidised with a data tariff, it could up being pretty cheap. So factor in the £20 tariff you said you could handle, and who knows??

It's worth keeping an eye on mate that's all. Looks pretty nifty though ey

It looks perfect for what I'd need. (y)

BTW... That £3.99 you were talking about paying.
Who do you pay it to, and what programme do you get.
Is it an app?
