Why we should sell Baines, Fellaini, and Coleman

If we can find a buyer at £15-20m each for Rodwell, Fellaini and Baines, i say sell. It'd buy 5 or 6 players that could push the team on.

I hope you're not serious.

Baines is the best Left Back in the premier league, and Fellaini is an instrumental part of our midfield. Why the **** would you want to sell them so we could buy a couple more cheap players who may end up being the next Bily ?

Anyone who'd part with Baines -- full stop -- needs a slap.

And they need reminding of some facts; most assists in the league for a defender, involved directly in 33% of our play; HE'S OUR MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER!

Reinstate Vaughan to the attack, pair him up with Anichebe and they'll fire us to the World Club Championship in no time.

That's the Prem combo they've all been fearing.

Putting those two on the same line in the formation maker is a natural happy wee releaser.

Fellaini is so instrumental we've had our best run without him ? I see where your coming from on that one !. I guess it depends how highly you rate them individually, because while i can see Rodwells potential, and Fellaini is good, i think if we got £15-20m for either of them, it'd be a great bit of business for us, and at least two of them are replaceable. Rodwell can't get in the team as it is.

Its my belief that Baines will ultimately want to leave in the next 12 months whether we choose to sell him or not, it just makes sense to me to sell him now at peak market value, get someone just as good or slightly less good, and then improve the entire squad.

And who said anything about cheap players ?. Your talking around £60m for those 3 and the dead wood like Bily and Heitinga etc, its a nice little war-chest for Moyes (providing he gets it all of course). Your looking at buying 5 or 6 players for £10-15m each, thats not cheap !.

Which proves one thing...... We're relying on him too much, if he got injured, a third of our inventiveness would disappear. Sell him, and we can get two players, of a much higher calibre than we are used to buying.

oh god, please stop. its not bad enough the board are braindead morons that f###king zombies wouldnt bother with, its started amongst the supporters. thanks bill for lowering expectations of this club to the level of your business acumen.

I think it makes sense, providing all the money is reinvested, the OP was obviously tongue in cheek. The issue is if any of the money was to go to servicing debt. If thats the case then it'd be feutile selling them. If it all went back into the squad, then to me it makes more sense to sell them.

Who would buy though? And what would be our expectations for next season with this new squad? Remembering this isn't FM11

I totally see your point about selling players at their peak value, but surely its more important to keep your best players, right?

Well what are our expectations for next season with this squad ? Because as it stands, i still don't think we'll make Europe with Fellaini, Baines, Rodwell, Heitinga and Bily. If we sell them, plus Yakubu and one or two others, your looking at around £70m. I'm not gonna do the whole Football Manager thing, but its plain to see, 6 players for £10-15m each to go straight into the first team. I think we could have an outisde chance of Europe, because i think there will be big changes a foot at Spurs and Arsenal.

Either way i feel we'd be much better prepared for next season having sold them and brought in six better players, than if we were to keep them and bring only one or two cheap signings in.

Presently we have a great team spirit which I believe is one of the reasons we are as good as we are. If we start selling our best players team spirit will nosedive which will mean we will be on a downward spiral to the bottom of the table. Sell maybe 1 or 2 players but anymore and you can cause some instability. You are not guaranteed that any players brought in are going to create the same team spirit so it has to be gradual process not a wholesale change.
