Football fans in the states are screaming for ESPN to embrace the game.. It seems that every game I see on ESPN is below premier league standard... Today is Sunderland V. Stoke (n)

Not the best of games to be honest and wont get people talking.

HD technology hasn't been able to handle Donovan's lovely coy smile.

This could be a reason.

Would you want them to just show replays of Man U/Arsenal instead?

No not at all.. Just wondering who in ESPN picks games to show..

I watched the game but thats because im a fan of the game..
I'm sure more moderate fans in America saw this game on the guide, checked to see who was playing and turned the channel to the world series of poker or something else..

I believe it has a lot to do with which games they get over in England.

Not every channel can only show the mouthwatering ties and then you have to remember that there are a lot of Stoke/Sunderland supporters who were interested in that tie (as well as some other relegation threatened teams).

So whatever games ESPN gets in England, I believe that we get to see on ESPN over here.

And....while you were disappointed with that match today, you certainly won't be disappointed next Saturday morning. (y)

I can't bloody wait. I did watch the Sunderland-Stoke game yesterday in HD, and it was like crack for your eyes. HD=the way the beautiful game should be seen.

I'm on the West coast, so Saturday, 5 a.m. ... It's ON! (y)

They won the bid for the Saturday morning match. Fox Soccer Channel gets the others.

They get the derby this weekend.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the time slots. ESPN gets the early match every Saturday.

Yes, this is the case. ESPN picks up the early match on Saturday and then it also gets the 1 Monday match if there is one that week. In this case, it was the Sunderland vs Stoke.

ESPN USA doesn't have the power to pick which matches are set at those time.

I actually don't mind that they are spreading the wealth vs making us watch Man U. or Chelsea each week.
