Why there is a demand for change and the reasons to be optimistic for the future

Er. No.

If you actually knew where most of the EFC players would live (the same locale as any of the Manchester players would live) there is absolutely no reason for south of England clubs to have an automatic preference to Everton.

This is an utterly biased and negative post - utterly bereft of reality.

If neg rep was available. That post would have earnt it.

Come on Bizzare one, you don't really think that foreign players prefer Manchester over London do you ? West Ham will be a very attractive proposition with the new stadium etc...

Also its worth noting that Moshiri is not worth £10B were he can spend £1B on a stadium and Rooney, Ibrahimovic and other top earners, then still have change in his arse pocket.

Cautious optimism is the best policy, I have a sneaky feeling Martinez will still be here next season armed with a couple of decent players but nothing like what some fans are demanding because he is worth over a billion pounds.

I was saying he didn't have a seat on the board. That means he absolutely no influence on the hiring or maintaining of Wenger in position.

Board members run the club. Shareholders can only appoint or try and have board members removed in most clubs.

And, your point being?
Fans are in effect 'shareholders' and they seem to consider they can influence strategic decisions.

No mate, that's like saying everyone who shops at Addax but complains on their twitter feed to their customer services is a shareholder.

Shareholders are shareholders. Fans who hold shares are shareholders. Fans who don't hold shares are fans and (vomits) customers

We as fans are stakeholders.
People seem to get stakeholders (people who have a stake or interest in the company or in this place club) confused with shareholders, (someone who holds shares within the club).
It's an important differentiation to be made.
Shareholders can control policy (should they hold sufficient shares), we as stakeholders can only influence policy.

I'm calling caution for all Evertonians.

Usually when an investor comes into a club they like to issue some sort of statement to show their arrival. Up until now we have heard nothing, which is no different from operations at board level for the last 15 years.

Whilst I would like to believe good times are around the corner, the fact Martinez was left in charge until the end of the season is the first alarm bell ringing for me, especially after the complete and utter humiliation the fans we're put through at Anfield.

We know nothing is going to happen overnight, but to let the season just fizzle to nothing and let him stay after what he himself called his "defining week", whilst we sit here watching our neighbours probably qualify for CL footy again just about sums the club up, even though there is nothing we can do about the latter obviously.

We won't be able to attract top drawer players due to the fact we can't offer European football, plus any next tier players will always prefer a move to our neighbours or possibly the likes of Southampton or West Ham due to location.

Whilst I am sure this original post was great in getting everybody more hopeful for the future, I think cautious optimism may be the order of the day for me. After all, it's Everton, unless we appoint a Mourinho who is going to change the whole ethos and thinking throughout the club then the next manager is basically coming in with a bit of a rebuilding job.

Same, mate. Until something concrete comes to light we're stuck with what we've got.

By the way what happened to your old profile name? It was ace!

I asked for my account to be deleted as I was on here too much. I re-registered and when I explained to mods I used to have an account they suggested I should have just reinstated that one.

Yep, caution still the way forward for me for now!

haha lol i recently reached the big 10k comments, deffo on here too much but have long breaks lasting a few months from time-to-time...quite nice to only go read-only for a while.

aye, with ya on the caution boat...if we end up with an unproven manager like De Boer and we're not too clever in the transfer market then at least the hope won't kill us.

I have been long hoping for Evertonians that are able to express what some of certain generations or ages feel, or what I feel. Inspiriation, beauty, loyalty, committment, these are words that should be associated with Evertonians, Everton, football, and people, and the city of Liverpool. Great post. History, decency, hard-work, family.

Every young or new Evertonian should be indoctrined into what history this club and our people have influenced in the past.

Good on you.

Bring on Mourinho or De Boer.
