Simple really, Why do you support everton. How did it happen, whats your story.

We all know evertonians are born an all that. But what brought you to our great club.

For me it was my dad. i was born in liverpool an he took me to goodison from a very early age (about 4ish) iv been hooked ever since. blue blood in my vains. season ticket holder for 14 years. He would never have it any other way. him an his 4 brother are mad evertonians. so now me an all my cousins are to.

Whats your story??

Pretty much the same as yourself, my dad was my main influence ("I would rather you were gay, than a Liverpool supporter" <- My dad's philosophy, not mine). Took me to my first game on my 9th birthday, Everton 4 Sunderland 1, Andy Gray (2) (both diving headers), Trevor Steven (another goal of the season contender) and an OG. It was a brilliant game, and we went on to win the league. I was immediately hooked. In contrast, my boys first game was a league cup defeat to Crystal Palace, the poor sod is only just getting some sort of benefit of being an evertonian, but a proud evertonian he is.

Not sure why really.

My dad is a United supporter and even took me to Old Trafford when I was too young to know what was going on

I think what started it was when I saw Graeme Sharpe play and that was it.

Once I started school I think there was one other blue and we formed a you-and-me-against-the-world type bond.

Joe Royle's mum was a very good friend of my mother and they got together to conspire to turn me into a blue from day one, despite the rest of my family, father included, being avid RS fans.

Hi all :)

been a very long time lurker on all the main Everton forums.

I've only ever registered once before and that was to answer this exsact question.

In my league days i was forced to watch Manchester. United play Everton in the 1985 F.A cup final. I detested the idea and had never heard of the teams.

Being into sport as a youngster (was 15 at the time) i found myself enjoying the match a little to my suprise.

Didn't really care who won or lost but there was something striking about that Everton team and the way they passed the ball around against a united team which was more rushed.

When whiteside scored in the end, it hit me... I had wanted Everton to win all along but didn't know it...

hence from that day on i would watch john motson game of the round and of course Everton would feature in most matches and quickly realised i had chosen a winning team haha :)

I feel funny being so passionate about Everton, it doesn't make much sense to me sometimes... Maybe it's the whole underdog sydnrome at play.

I also like how 2 'great' clubs are both based in the same city. It's pretty much unheard of anywhere else in the world and as successful as Liverpool has been i honoustly believe that neither would be as great if it werent for the other which is why it's important that both are doing reasonably well in the league

I cheer i shout, i get all nervous and even get the goosebumps when i hear Z-cars playing in old footage through to new. (and im not even english ! in fact many a time i've enjoyed nothing more than insulting you guys when Australia plays you in sports haha :) ) so there you go.

All i have to say is Thankgod United won that day.. it's the main reason i chose everton.

:)

It's in my blue blood - Grandparents were Blues (from 1920s onwards - saw Dixie get his 60th), Dad is a Blue (been going for over 70 years, saw Dixie and Tommy Lawton) and I've been going since the late 60s. My son is now the fourth generation.

Nothing to do with parents or anything - I started supported them from the age of about 6 because everyone else supported Liverpool, Manchester United or Arsenal. What's another invisible fan to Liverpool, Man U, or Arsenal? It means nothing because it's an easy choice to make - the path of least resistance. Supporting Everton is much harder because they are perennially the underdog.

My Great Grandfather played for Everton and actually scored in the 1897 FA Cup Final against Aston Villa (although we lost).

All males in the family have from that point on, been fanatical blues, particularly my grandfather who never missed a home game for more than 35 years.

Sadly I can't match his record but have the same passion (y)

My Auntie, from day 1 she instilled the virtues of Everton into my system and my very 1st words were 'Alan Ball' due to my auntie. She also took me to my 1st match and also took me to Rotterdam for the '85 ECWC final. So i have a lot to thank her for(y)

Third generation blue....... although when i was in primary school i told my mum i wanted to support Liverpool like her

She said no...... your dad will kill me. so i didn't :D

Dad was from Glasgow and supported Celtic and my mum's family were Blues. That was it really. Do have a soft spot for Celtic though.

My dad, sadly no longer with us, he was an Italian immigrant (don't all scream at me) and came to work in north wales in the early fifties. He loved football and started to watch the local teams Wrexham, Chester, Tranmere and Everton. Every weekend him and his mates would watch a game of footy but within a few months he started going more regularly to watch the Blues even though it was the hardest place to get to from south of Wrexham.

From as long as I can remember he always talked about Everton and the beautiful football they played. 'They are the gentlemen of football, Liverpool are the cavemen'. Those were his words back in the sixties when I took a more avid interest in football.
Bear in mind that little girls didn't go to football matches very often but I stuck with it, even when I lived in Italy and had to wait til Tuesday to get the Sunday papers, it was always straight to the back page.

Now, I'm fortunate enough to have a season ticket, have travelled to a couple of away UEFA games but sadly missed Wednesday night's game as my mother suffered a major heart attack on Tuesday night. First game I've missed in about four years - since she was last ill in fact.
Obviously I wanted to be with her as it was touch and go for a couple of days but I was with you all in spirit if not in body.

Live a Blue, Die a Blue, can there be any better fate in life?

MY dads dads dads dad started the ball rolling and its never stopped tradition was you where taken to your first game as soon as you where nine and I broke that rule taking my 7 year old grandson to his first game this season took the daughter to a game when she was nine but she never really was keen and married a red nose but at least she helped me persuade my grandson the right way.
