I blame the cheese for being too soft and crumbly and the toast for being burnt.
Not arsed about the team just now, all they do is bum me off!
Hopefully some new faces in January will help them turn a corner.

It seems like the same players and Manager from last season so who's fault is it?

Manager?

or

Players?

Both.

Martinez is the manager, so ultimately, he carries the can. It's his job to coach and motivate the players to get the best out of them. Plainly that's not currently happening, but too many of the players don't look arsed, so they have to take some responsibility as well.

Why don't they look arsed though??

Martinez should be ordering them to up the tempo 200% and start chasing down the opposition, FFS even Barcelona chase down hard

Mmm At least the theory players are not trying for Roberto would be easier to accept than they are just Crap.. There is certainly some unrest in the camp with certain players - distin seems be the first who got the hump because he was dropped after Swansea for poor game and worse attitude ... Rightly dropped in my opinion ! Maybe the bigger squad is causing an issue as nobody has divine right to play anymore - also clear some players (who can't play ) are not happy with the possession football Roberto is trying to play... Needs some serious clear the air talks I think as a starting point and try to find the catalyst(s)

The manager.

Years of negativity under Moyes, always concentrating on not getting beat. Martinez comes in all positive and all of a sudden the players enjoy life and respond with some great performances. Raving about the new attitude. I can only guess that training is different because we suddenly get loads of hamstring injuries.

Summer comes and training is possibly a bit easier, players are given longer off after the World Cup. The message from the manager is more of the same. Players are nowhere near as fit, blowing for tugs after 50 mins in games, things get lazy because of the lack of fitness and suddenly the results don't come. You don't close down, you just back off. Once you get tired your technique goes, and getting the ball in defensive areas and being expected to find feet within 5 yards becomes difficult. Every time you lose the ball you just back off and the other side looks like scoring. The shape seems to be non-existent and there are too many players not mobile enough to make the 'system' work.

No shape, no quality, no fight.

We have no quality in wide areas in advanced positions. Naismith puts in a great shift but his link up is woeful, Lukaku suffers when Naismith plays, but Lukaku himself suffers as his touch isn't great and he wants the ball played early but the manager's system discourages that. We suddenly don't have enough going forward to cover for the non-existent defending.

Martinez either needs to address the issues in the tfr market, and/or adapt his 'vision' about how football should be played if he wants to succeed. We are far too open and it's a dangerous game trying to outscore the opposition. Arsenal showed for years, if you don't close down at all in games and just expect to blitz teams you are going to need some really top players to succeed.
