That we have no uafa cup football this year. Not saying that i wasn't heart broken when we got knocked out by liege, but with all our strikers getting injured early on in the season and the bad start we had to the league, I feel that not getting into the group stage was a blessing. Now next year we will be ready! currently we are the second best team in Premiere League (behind United 14 clean sheets is pretty unbelievable) but no other team is playing with the confidence that we are. Its brilliant to see the spirit, friendship and confidence our boys are showing in every match. I feel Villa will go through some what of a slump now, pretty much the same as us last year when all our hopes where slashed getting knocked out of 2 cups and not finishing the league as should as we should have.
This year i have every confidence in us finishing in a uafa cup spot if not the top 4 and if we keep the squad that we have now with 1 or 2 exceptions, then buy 4 in the summer ( Striker,2 Wingers, and a Def Mid) then with all this class youth coming through next year, ohh next year my mouth is watering with the prospects. But for now ill just have faith in FA cup, we can beat any one and we will win it. Come on the boys.

He's that little dude that runs around with 6 of his mates trying to shag Snow White.

Im disappointed. But i dont really understand fatigue n all that...so it is probably good for us in the long run...I just dont get how Players can be tired playing 2 matches in a week - when they train everyday 10 months a year. Just doesnt make sense...

Cant say im overjoyed we got knocked out first game, would have been nice to have a run to be fair, probably would have had a major impact on our League and FA Cup form, but we managed a long run in 2 Cup competitions last year and managed ok and yes i know this seasons injurys have been a LOT worse.

My wallet was made up tho.

To be fair we did get knocked out by a very good side and we probably got the worst draw out of the entire Uefa Cup 1st round. But we did shoot ourselves in the foot.

If we were ready and good enough we'd still be in it. But we werent.

The FA Cup is where its at though!

Really dissapointed on two fronts obviously as a fan and surely if wed stayed in or got to the group stages with the from we are in wed have a good chance of winning it out right. Once again though we got possibly the hardest draw we could have.

From a finacial point of view, although the Uefa sponds are meagre compared to the CL it did have have a possitve effect on our turnover form last year that we will miss this season. Lets hope a good run in the Cup can go someway in bridgeing the gap.

Anyone who went to that first away at Villareal who was stood inside the ground under the stand before the game started singing " Oh Davey Moyes " ( I had tears in my eyes ) for nigh on 20 minutes solid with each verse getting louder will ever not be arsed at not progressing in Europe . But you do have a valid point . Maybe we would have indeed been burnt out when you consider our injuries and sparring with the RS .

gutted we were knocked out so early. last year we were going great in the cups. i don't agree that it screws up the league form.

in fact the league form only dipped after we lost on pens and were OUT of the uefa.

concentrate on the league is exactly what that ******** Rafael said after we knocked them out.
